Stephen,looking at your street on Google street view,all the aerials seem to be pointing north west,the opposite direction to the satellite dishes,which would be south east.
If they 'are' all looking at Sutton Coldfield there must be a reason for that.
Do a scan and check the RF channel numbers against the Sutton Coldfield transmitter listings.
They are 41/44/47/51/52/55 I think :)

Stephen johnson: According to the Digital UK postcode checker using Sandy Heath would give the 3 PSB muxes from switchover on 13th April 2011, however it would be 2012 before you could receive all 3 COM muxes. Sutton Coldfield gives all six muxes from switchover on 21st september 2011 with Mux SDN and Mux ArqA on reduced power until November 2011. The eventual signal levels show S/C to be stronger than S/H.

The reason for the aerials pointing northwest is due to i am at the bottom of a hill and would need a 40 foot pole the look over it one half of the street points to sutton and the other half go to sandy i think and some point completly the opposite way to mine which baffles me
Northampton is not a very good area for reception low lying and a huge express lift concrete tower messed up the analogue signal
I dont have a pronlem getting any of the channels some lower down break up for a second every couple of hours but nothing worse

I would leave things as they are then Stephen,you would need a wideband aerial as well,for Sandy Heath.
My son lives near you,and I can't help looking up at the TV aerial's around there trying to figure out who is looking at which transmitter :)

Hi
I live in the Derby area and i have just purchased a new samsung led with Freeview HD, all tuned in but no Freeview HD channels ?
I live in a new build appartment, top floor, well only 3 floors high, the aerial for my block which consists of just 12 blocks is literally situated on the side wall of my appt where my aerial and plugs is in the lounge, all channels are ok on analogue and freeview and my sky has full signal service.
is Freeview HD in the area as of yet ?

Mick: Freeview HD is not yet available in most of Derby because the only HD transmitter in this area is Lichfield on C34. Unfortunately this frequency is also used by analogue Channel Five from Kimberley.The situation may well change on 13th April 2011 when analogue signals from Kimberley are switched off,removing the interference from the Lichfield signal if you currently receive Freeview from Sutton Coldfield. Additionally Freeview HD begins from Kimberley on this date for viewers able to receive it. If your aerial is set on Waltham the HD service begins on 31st August 2011.

Firstly thanks for the quickness of your reply, Thanks fella.
Well not to sure what transmitter i am on to be fair, all i can say is i get East mids news on BBC1 and the aerial i think faces the same kind of direction as the Dish at the front of the block i live in, so it just a matter of waiting for the switch to happen.
Thanks mate i really appreciate it, also why i am here i have just got myself a new 20hd tv with standard freeview built in too for the bedroom and i want to get an aerial fitted for the bedroom do you recommend any good aerial fitters in the Derby area at all , who are good and cheap too. lol

I bought a full hd tv at Xmas. On tuning it I get a total of 104 channels. Excellent digital freeview but NO hd. Reception figures are around 60-70%. I bought a Televes 45 but still no difference from my old one! I know it's a loft aerial, But at that signal figure, why can't I get hd. I believe my transmission is from Sutton Coldfield. On checking the internet I am supposed to receive good hd from this transmitter so why can't I get it!

Geoff,are you sure your new TV can get HD,what make/model number is it,a lot of people are buying sets do not have a dvb-t2 tuner ''HD'' inside,not saying yours is,but there is a chance.
Also HD is not transmitted from Sutton,at the moment,its from a site at Hints nr Lichfield,and its low power,and the main beam is directed towards Birmingham,and not any other direction.
Freeview HD will be transmitted from Sutton Coldfield,from digital switch over,on 21/9/11 and there will be a very large transmitter power increase,at that time.
