pirat3uk: The signal on C41 is most likely to be Mux D3+4 from the Great Yarmouth relay. This is a Freeview light transmitter (the three PSB muxes only) and is on a bearing of 347 degrees from your location. The signal is transmitted at 400 Watts and uses vertical polarisation.

Really need help!
Just done a bit more testing (wife calls it playing) and further to previous post noticed that I don't get any signal on c59 BUT all the channels on that mux are on the "extra" mux I get on c41.So in a nutshell I get sdn mux on c41 not c59 as I would expect from tacolneston. So I would assume I'm lined up on the wrong Transmitter? BUT no other transmitter in the uk transmits on that frequency line up.
HELP! is the website info incorrect??

That was my initial theory but
It's at right angles (347-258) to my aerial
It's the wrong polarisation
It's got a better signal despite going through end wall and rest of terrace.
mmmmmmmmmmmmm I know it's a black art, but?

pirat3uk: The signal could be deflected by the roof or reflected by a nearby hill, building or a water tank. It is not unusual for the polarisation to be skewed in this event. The only other transmitter in Norfolk using C41 is Little Walsingham, which at 11W really has no chance of reaching your location.

mmmm all good explanations but, as someone who is dubious of coincidence, doesn't explain the "loss" of c59 which (by coincidence, that word again!) carries the same content as the c41 I get (but shouldn't)
I saw another post on this site make reference to "parts being borrowed from sudbury for the tacolneston transmitter" prior to DSO. It couldn't possibly be that Tacolneston is actually Transmitting D34 on c41 instead of c59 IN ERROR????

pirat3uk: Many receivers, after finding and storing the channels on C41 would overlook C59 as the content is identical to the channels already stored. Others will examine both C41 and C59 and select the stronger of the two signals. A third option, which clearly does not apply in this case, is selecting the last frequency found and rejecting identical content found earlier in the scan.

Can I assume you get ITV1 etc. ok on c59? 'cos I can't. Everything else ok with wideband aerial

pirat3uk: I should have added that the solution is to clear the channel list, then do a manual tune on each of the Tacolneston frequencies to restore reception of the correct transmitter.

Can see I've got your grey matter workin overtime!
When I say I've got no signal on c59 I mean on a manual tune looking at reception levels all as expected for Tacolneston except c59 "NO SIGNAL" and good signal (relative) on c41, which is unexpected. Strange thing is I got a good signal on c41 on our previous "non wideband" aerial, but as expected c42 no signal and breakup on c45, others all ok so upgraded the aerial to get c42 ITV3 (for the missus). Tuner is a wharfedale twin tuner pvr but same results on tv's (tecnika) on board tuner.
Got me going, for sure!
The only problem is a nagging doubt that my signal is not coming from tacolneston. Some sites refer to a relay in Gorleston on sea but others such as this do not mention it?
