jordan: C57 at Brierley Hill is BBC One, not c58.
There are no analogue transmitters in the West Midlands.

Briantist: You're a week early with that statement. Sutton Coldfield and relays don't complete until the 21st. Perhaps you meant to say 'East Midlands'?
C58 is used for BBC One at a number of SC relays:
Earl Sterndale
Ironbridge
Kidderminster
Queslett
Winchcombe
Vertically-polarized aerials are more prone to picking up off-beam signals than HP.

Are HD chnnels available from the Wrekin at the moment. My son lived in Telford TF3 but is unable to receive any.

Triode: Yes, since it completed switchover in April. If he couldn't get HD channels but BBC services, ITV1, C4 and C5 were otherwise fine, see What does "Full HD Ready" actually mean? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .
It's possible that something else was knocking out that one frequency, though it would probably have caused interference on Channel 4 analogue before switchover, and possibly Multiplex 2 before switchover and Multiplex A now. See Single Frequency Interference for an idea of what to look for.

Triode - so long since I have seen that written down that it looks odd!
What Mike is being too delicate to say is
Does your son actually have an HD Box, or a TV with an HV TUNER, because "HD Ready" usually does NOT mean "can receive HD" just "got enough definition for HD".
NOT the TV makers' fault - they can't include tuners until standards are agreed.
