My Sky News and Dave (Com5 /ArqA) is weak and variable. All TVs on my aerial and the same next door on a different aerial. Like this for a month or so.

Colin Case:

To be able to offer any meaningful suggestion s we need you to provide a full post code. Then we will be able to see what the expected reception conditions are like at your location.

Meanwhile, please check all your aerial connections that you can safely reach. Unplug all the connections and reinsert them - corrosion/oxidation on the contacts is a well known cause of symption similar to those you describe.

Howard Platt : Quest HD is on the COM8 multiplex, which is not broadcast from The Wrekin. If you enter a full postcode we can check whether you may be able to receive it from another transmitter.

Thanks StevensOnln1 for your reply about channel 114HD. My postcode Is TF9 1GB. My bro who lives in Stoke gets 114HD from Fenton trans. so I just wondered why two transmitters in close proximity don't broadcast same channels.

Howard Platt : Although you should be able to receive some multiplexes from a few other transmitters, it looks like The Wrekin is the only viable option at your location. COM7 & COM8 are temporary services broadcast from 30 transmitters covering around 70% of UK households. There were only a limited number of frequencies available for COM7/8 to use when they first launched, so with The Wrekin having large areas of overlap with several high power transmitters there were probably no usable frequencies available.

I'm confused by the reference to no COM8 from The Wrekin. I always thought it was a major "full service" tx. Does that mean that in LL14 5HD there are things I cannot get?

Steve P:

The Wrekin is a 'full service' transmitter but that does not mean it has COM7 and COM8, which are temporary services expected to end by 2022 and only carried by 30 main transmitters.

If you look at the Digital UK Coverage Checker, see Coverage Checker - Detailed View you will note that The Wrekin does not cary those services and is unlikely to have them.

The 'major' transmitters are those such as Sutton Coldfield, Crystal Palace, Mendip, Emley Moor, etc. the Wrekin is not a 'major' transmitter in that sense.
