Craig : You are predicted to have excellent reception of all multiplexes - do you have a good line of sight to the transmitter from your rooftop (I presume) aerial?

In the last 4 or 5 days the BBC1 and BBC2 channels have either been heavily pixelated or state No Signal. BBC 3 and BBC4 and all other channels are perfect.
The aerial is attached to a chimney, brand new fitted last year and since then all channels had been superb. We were pointed towards Crystal Palace, now Bluebell Hill I think. One TV has a Humax freeview, another is a one year old TV with Freeview inside and both have the same problem. I have just tried your reset procedure and I am now missing digital BBC1 and BBC2 completely so I am now worse off (Channel 59 is probably the problem as the signal on this one is very poor). The non digital BBC channels are dreadful. We did have perfect BBC1 digital reception this morning from 07.35 for 5 mins! That ITV Daybreak program is awful and not something one should have to suffer

The only thing in the way of a straight line is a transmitter from the fire station.

Could that be the cause of me missing some MUX's and my other channels breaking up?

So what's the best cause of action for me as the last thing I want to do is start spending money on virgin or sky.

Craig : After switchover, you will be able to choose signals from Tunbridge Wells, Crystal Palace, Heathfield AND Bluebell Hill.

However, today your only option is Tunbridge Wells.

You can always use Freesat, that doesn't cost much to install (and nothing to use) and switch back to Freeview from another transmitter next year.

Pieter: If BBC3 is perfect check in the 800s of the channel list for a BBC1 and/or BBC2 that work. You are in range of several transmitters and have possibly stored the channels for a signal that is too weak to give reliable reception. Problems with C59 could be due to signals from Bluebell Hill receiving interference from Tunbridge Wells MuxD.

Craig: Regarding poor quality on C39, C42+ and C45+. You might be receiving interference from Bluebell Hill.Note too that C39 is used at Reigate and just over the horizon analogue services from Hannington use all three frequencies. It is possible that careful re-positioning of the aerial could lose the unwanted signals, giving better quality on the required signals.
