Vinnie Martins: Where is this box and where does the cable go that has been cut? Chances are that it's going to be something that would best be repaired/reconnected by a reputable aerial installer, rather than something that you could easily repair yourself.

Dave: The last frequency changes for the 700MHz clearance took place a couple of years ago. If you provide a full postcode we can check what you're predicted to get at your location. Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TV?

Dave:

This is the Local Brighton Mux L-BTN. You aren't the only one who is reporting a problem. The transmitter isn't currently listed for Planned Engineering, but as this is a commercial multiplex, the chances of finding a fault report are negligible.
I'm not sure but I think the Local channel is run by Latest TV Ltd. Try giving them a ring on 01273-687171.

If you retuned when you had no signal, it'll likely have just cleared the correct tuning, so you'll need to repeat the retune when there is signal.

Signal strength on channel 34 is well down compared to the other multiplexes resulting in the picture breaking up badly on Sky News. Is anybody else having this problem?

Mike:

I can't find any reported faults, that doesn't mean there isn't one !! But as this is a commercial multiplex carrying Sky News (ArqA/COM5) chances of finding a report are minimal! Check with some neighbours if they have the same problem in which case it might be easier to contact Sky News and tell them as they should know exactly who to contact regarding such a fault.
Otherwise check all you coax connections etc., make sure you don't have any HDMI cables running close to your aerial cables and flyleads as HDMI has been known to cause interference.

I live in Seaford. I pick up 23,26,30 from Newhaven. I also pick up 32,33,34 from Whitehawk Hill with an ariel amplifyer. Usually the whitehawk signal is good power and quality. It used to be affected occasionally by atmospherics. More recently I have had more problems, particularly on 33 and 34. When affected, those channels show 95% signal strength but very poor quality, giving an intermittant signal. Most times when that happens, 32 is still showing 95% signal strength and 100% quality and coming through fine. It seems to me, if it was atmospherics, all three would be affected at the same time. Does anyone have any ideas?

Michael Murphy:

Sorry you are wrong with your assumption about "atmospherics", all 3 would not necessarily be affected. Tropospheric Ducting can be very frequency dependent and it will also depend on where the interference is coming from. A distant transmitter in Europe or the UK may not be co-channel on the same 3 UHF channels.
