Steve Donaldson: thanks for that detailed explanation. I'll try a filter first and see if that helps.

Jon Henderson: It sounds like it may be sporadic, which could imply interference from some source. It could be mobile phone interference, whether a mast or mobile device.
Another thing to be aware of is that other types of cable, such as HDMI, USB and Ethernet, running close to or parallel with aerial cables can sometimes affect the TV signal running in the aerial cable.

Jon Henderson: This is good news.
It's also been interesting to hear about your experience. It helps to understand the problem, the learnings of which may be of help to others with similar symptoms.

Jon Henderson:
Thanks for posting back. As Steve says it gives us a better understanding of the way channels can be affected which at the outset isn't quite what we might have expected, but I'm noticing similar situations with others.

Because the owner's site software hasn't picked up the full list of channels on the multiplex for some reason.
If you want what is usually a full and up-to date list of which TV channels are on which multiplex. see

Because of the unfortunate appearance of some spam here, you may have missed the post currently at the bottom of page 215 advising that the transmitter is currently having Planned Engineering, so this is the likely reason for the signal drop you arte seeing.
Based on your previous information, your aerial should be correctly pointing at compass bearing 252 degrees, that's fractionally W (by 4 degrees) of WSW.
