Roger: It may well be the same ongoing work, the Crystal Palace transmitter tower is 60+ years old and probably requires extensive ongoing maintenance to ensure it continues to operate in a safe condition. The transmitter engineering posts come from an automated feed provided by BBC Engineering. This is an unofficial help site and unfortunately nobody here has any further information regarding what works are taking place or when they are expected to be completed.

Arqiva who do the transmitter work never give any details about the work or duration, so the automated feeds never have any detail as already said by Stevensonln1.
However, as you haven't given a full postcode we can't offer any constructive advice about your predicted reception, there may be reasons in your locale why some UHF channels have poorer reception, there might also be potential issues with interference.
So a full postcode and any information about reception of the other multiplex's UHF channels eg. Signal Strength and Quality figures (somewhere in your tuning section, maybe under Test) as well as UHF C30 would be good.

Chris and Steven(s), Thanks for your posts. I'm sorry if I seemed to be 'shooting the messenger'. I appreciate volunteers who try to help. I just find it SO frustrating that those who manage the system don't have enough respect for those who pay their wages, to provide us with some information on how much longer they'll continue to disrupt our reception. I'm not seeking help with changing my system to improve its reception, because it has been working acceptably well for some years until the last few weeks. I don't want to change anything until I know that the engineering works are over. Hence my frustration!

That's no problem, we share your frustration quite regularly.
As I said in my previous response, if you supply a full postcode we may be able to offer some constructive advice about your predicted reception. Reception from the transmitter is not the same everywhere, a lot depends on the terrain and general locale.

I was really surprised to see the message from Transmitter engineering this morning, because my problems with reception UHF channel 30 seemed to clear in Saturday . It seemed as though the transmission had been restored to full power after being on reduced power. Anyway I'm very glad that I didn't make any changes to my system as it now seems to working as well as it ever did. I still think it's a shame that Arqiva can't tell their users (who pay their salaries) what's happening!

Roger: Arqiva are paid by the broadcasters and multiplex operators, who probably do have access to more detailed information. Arqiva are not generally a public facing organisation and have no obligation to provide information to anyone other than their paying clients.

More an observation, as pointed out by Roger I think. Every time I look at Crystal Palce on here, there's yet another week of maintenence. It seems there's been continuous work for years ! It looks beyond a joke now !! Are they REALLY doing maintenance constantly ??

I presume you've read the replies we've given to Roger.
Personally I don't have the time to go chasing either Freeview - whose front facing service has absolutely no clue when it comes to technical stuff like this,
or Arqiva who are likely to respond (as they have in the past to others) that they are not a public facing organisation when it comes to engineering matters.
It may be worth pointing out, as I have previously, but not done so for a while, that it is now 12+years since DSO when a lost of work was done on masts, and obviously the structures themselves need maintenance (weather dependant) as well as the fact that things deteriorate, equipment needs upgrading or replacing etc. etc.
I'm not sure how people think that services will continue until 2034 (current licencing period for Freeview) without masts collapsing in severe weather or transmitting equipment failing etc. without some major maintenance work as frustrating as it can be on occasion!
