The symbol shows the location of the Waltham (Leicestershire, England) transmitter which serves 770,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Waltham (Leicestershire, England) mast?

Its not just daylight hours over here. Nothing at all day or night. I've tried different boxes, tv's and pc tuner. If there is interference then its pretty specific to c31.. Do any other transmiters use c31 anywhere for digital, or did they, did they have similar issues at some point. My only thought now is that perhaps all our receivers have some common problem, electrical noise generated from cooling fans or earth leakage - just grasping at straws really.

I've been googling 554Mhz and c31, there are some comments on different forums about similar issues in other parts of the country. A few people have come to the conclusion that there is indeed something about that particular band which may suffer from interference generated internaly within the componants of reception equipment or tv's (i'm not refering to a modulated rf output). Some people have rectfied it by buying new equipment (yeah right... My equipments new and I cant fork out for newer stuff - again!) others by doing weird and wonderful things with tin foil around the back of the tv which is not recommended..

Regards the c31 issue, I've been running further tests on the signal I'm getting and can say it isnt anything to do with local interference or the equipment I'm using.

I've been using a diagnostic program on my PC called ScanChannelsBDA_UK which allows me to examine the frequencies being recieved, it also provides me with the 'network information' (Lists the region, multiplex information, parent transmitter as well as relay transmitter frequencies. This then generates a table with the Channel, LCN, SID, Vid, Aud, PMT for each one.

Every frequency lists on there properly apart from.... C31; which gives signal strength and quality information (in line with the others) but insists that "no network information" is being broadcast. So on C31 the channel list, Vid and Aud program id (PIDs) are all missing. So, it appears there is a broadcast issue.

Also, the program discovered a weak digital signal on frequency 546Mhz (-166Khz) which would be Channel 30, perhaps the closeness of this is causing issues? I can only think that would be either Belmont or Fenton but they are a distance away..

Thanks for that obsidian_eclipse. So I'll just wait until they get round to sorting it out and stop beating up my brain trying to fix it myself.

This is ridiculous I have not had ITV, C4 etc since Weds morning in LE2. Have tried auto and manual retunes and first time instillations on numerous occasions to no avial. No problems at all prior to this and no idea who to contact etc.

Jonathan & Hobbitt.

Don't think we cab resolve this individually.
I know Briantist keeps telling us it is single channel interference but if is, it's not being generated in my house. The problem is so widespread, there must be a pretty powerful transmitter somewhere putting it out. I have given up for the time being as I am convinced all my kit (nearly new) is not at fault.
I have an Engineeering Technical manager at ITV ringing me back on monday. Don't know if he will come up with a reason...failing that I guess no MUX 2 until August. Keep smiling,J.

Jonamat: If you could let the ITV tech manager know the problem is here in Leicester (LE2) too that would be great!
Can't be single freq interference here either as have no other equipment.

Jonathan lives in the same village as me. NG22 My C31 varies - Quality 0-10% max.
Signal strength 0-10%.That's the highest it has been today and probably the highest since tuesday. Returns zero results on search.
