CP to BR5 2--. When we first bought our iDTV (4+ years ago) and had a new Band A Yaggi roof aerial fitted by an approved installer, we received all the MUXs perfectly. Then, for a brief period, we had on-off problems with MUX 2 followed by good reception on all again.

About 6 months ago, we got "no signal" indication on MUX2 and MUXA, which I thought could be dues to a reduction in power listed on the CP Page of this site.

Then, in the last week reception on MUX1 has become "bad signal", with locked pictures and no sound on and off, and still "no signal" on MUX2 and MUXA

Switching to Analogue gives perfect C4 and C5 reception, but very bad BBC1 or 2. ITV1 is not bad, but not as good as C4 or C5.

Our aerial doesn't appear to have revolved on the mast, but could have done by a very small amount. Before I call in an installer to check, is there any other reason related to CP transmitter that may cause the problem?

Obviously, if there's a new "Hi-rise" or crane between us and CP there's not much I can do.

Hello, Postcode TW19 7RL. I am also affected by the sudden loss of signal quality on MUX 2 and MUX A - which overnight resulted in loss of these channels (well, extreme pixillation infact) on my Panasonic plasma TV (Freeview tuner), but thankfull not my Panasonic HD recorder's tuner.
Why has this been done without any warning?
I also purchased a Freeview HD recorder for the world cup, when it worked fine, but lost those HD channels altogether a week (?) after the cup. I note that Crystal Palace transmits HD at "below average". Is this all suddenly going to improve on the switchover next April? For now, is changing from a "digital-approved" to "top-of-the-range" aerial (mounted 25m up, on the roof) going to improve things before then? Your comments are sought.

Raf:According to the Digital UK postcode checker you are in an area of good reception for Crystal Palace. After switchover signals will be 200kW, ten times stronger than at present. The HD mux will be twenty times stronger. You should have no difficulty at all after switchover unless you increase the signal strength now to such a level that you end up with too much signal when the 200kW transmitters enter service. It is possible that your HD reception at present is receiving interference from Reigate.Your tv possibly requires a slightly stronger signal than the HD recorder to work properly. If you do replace the aerial a group A type yagi, carefully aligned should be all you need. Of course cables and connectors should be checked first for damage/poor contact. You mentioned signal quality being poor on the tv. What is the quality like on the HD recorder? Does connecting the aerial direct to the tv make a difference?

kieran r: The prediction at your address continues to be rubbish. They are percentage probabilities and no reason to suppose that problems will occur on all multiplexes at the same time, but averaged over the year it's expected that you'll have more problems with Mux A, C and D than with 1, 2 and B.

There's still nothing you can do about it, as you have said before that the recommended transmitter - Hannington - is not possible due to the trees to your west. My recommendation is still, if you can't do anything about the trees, to get satellite or cable.

Hi in the last 8 days all channels from the crystal palace have had a signal drop of circa 30% except all HD channels which are fine

I'm at SL2 2NN my brother 1 mile north in east burnham is also having problems... he noticed exact same time you changed or adjusted the transmitter although he believes its on "channel 25" which I guess he means the multiplex
