I have an LG Freeview HD TV. I tried a full rescan - no Freeview HD, then manually tuning to Ch28 where BBC, ITV and Ch4 are allegedly being transmitted - no signal whatsoever.

Alan Clarke: Taking it that you are using Belmont, which is transmitting HD on Mux Ch28, "no signal" can indicate that your TV is only HD ready meaning it can show HD from an external HDMI input, but it doesnt necessarily mean that it can receive it.

Look at your TV's manual technical spec, if it can receive HD it should state on the tuner info DVB-T2 capable, if its only HD ready it will be DVB-T, meaning that its tuner cannot receive HD, only normal SD.

This is something that many people are getting caught out with.

jb38 - the set is combined Freesat HD and Freeview HD, is rated full HD and indeed it is DVB-T2 capable. I've been watching Freesat HD for along time. I'm more curious as to why my set indicates that there is no terrestrial HD signal on Ch28 from Belmont.

Alan Clarke: Are you sure your set is not DVB-S2 (FreeSAT HD) capable, rather than DVB-T2 (FreeVIEW HD)?

Kev Challis: Please see What does "Full HD Ready" actually mean? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice - you may just have a HDTV with Freeview, and not a Freeview HD (DVB-T2) receiver.

Richard: Yes, that is correct, you need to ensure you do anything you can to protect the digital signal from interference if you want a reliable service.

On the first day of Belmont's DSO Stage 1, I was getting a its high power BBCA Mux here in Leeds (even though my aerial is pointed at Emley Moor). From the next day, however, I could no longer receive Belmont's transmissions, even now that DSO Stage 2 has completed.

Have they altered the radiation pattern so that it no longer spills into West Yorkshire? Or was I just 'lucky' on that day to pick up Belmont?

Alan Clarke:
The only Freesat TV models that LG made are the discontinued LF7700 models. These tv's only have Freesat HD DVB-S2 and Freeview DVB-T tuners in them.
I have seen tv's on display in supermarkets and the outer box displays the Freeview logo and next to it HD and underneath it Ready like this close together:-
Freeview HD
Ready
They are clearly not proper Freeview HD tv's but only Freeview & HD Ready. Generally they are Tesco cheap brand models. One way to catch people out.

On my comment above on the small diagram the Ready wording is lined up exactly under HD, not to the left where it is now.
