TRANSMITTER PROBLEM

It appears that the HD MUX (PSB3 on frequency channel 29) is off air.

This happened firstly early this evening - my neighbour somehow got hold of Arqiva who switched Chesterfield to the reserve transmitter at about 20:15, thus restoring service.

At about 21:15, the multiplex went off air again - I have called the BBC who said they have 'reported the problem'.

I thought we would be able to pack up the Freeview HD channels after August 24th.in the CHesterfield area.

However althouth my equipment is all HD ready I do not appear to get any of the HD channels is there a reason for this

Noticed yesterday all channels on the SDN/S4C Network Multiplex were down or stuttering badly (ITV3, QVC, etc.) including Capital, Heart and Absolute Radio. Fixed tonight, showing up as new channels for me. Anyone else seen these issues?

Jordan P: Perhaps the muxes that were breaking up were being picked up from another transmitter, hence why the apparently correct ones are "new".

Dave Lindsay: My ariel is facing almost North, I live behind Newbold Road, do you know what other masts it could be picking up? It seems a retune fixed it though

Last night (13 Nov 2011) the digital BBC1,2,3&4 channels from the Chesterfield tansmitter disappeared for variable periods of time (>10mins) during the whole evening.
This affected all our TVs. The signal is back tonight and steady so far. Was this a transmitter problem or an atmospheric issue?
Normally we have very stong signals for all channels from our rooftop aerial.
Thanks for your help,
David

David: There were reports of loss of signal on Belmont, Sandy Heath and Sheffield in addition to your own experience which would suggest that the inversion effect was to blame. Mark Fletcher in Halifax was able to receive a Dutch TV station on C32 for a short time... see his post on the Freeview on Belmont TV transmitter page.

Going back to David's problems on 13/11/2011, my mother at S8 7fu lost channels 1 to 5 from 7pm until after 9pm. Seemed strange that she should lose these and still get all the extra freeview channels. She had a new rooftop aerial fitted three months ago, pointed to the Chesterfield transmitter, and everything was perfect until this one evening.
Meanwhile, I, at S35 3jh using Emley Moor, lost everything but the BBC channels on the same evening at 8pm onwards for ten minute intervals. At least with analogue the picture got worse but was still watchable.
