The symbol shows the location of the Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) transmitter which serves 1,550,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Emley Moor (Kirklees, England) mast?

mike Roberts : Not sure what you mean there, BBCA is now at full power (174kW) and the other five multiplexes will output from that power level from a week Wednesday. Well, almost, "ArqB subject to reactive power reduction of 87kW".

Andy P: I'm not sure if you are still checking this page. I noticed that you provided a postcode a couple of days ago. According to the Digital UK website, you should be able to receive all muxes from Emley Moor.

As Briantist said, try removing your booster. If that doesn't give you BBCA, try installing an attenuator. Of course this might have an adverse effect on the other (low power) muxes. This should be resolved after the final stage of switchover though.

Mike Dimmick: I had been scratching my head, wondering why they decided to carry out the switch over on two transmitters which each have high geographical and population coverage (Emley Moor and Sutton Coldfield) on the same day. Thanks for explaining. Even though it's pretty obvious, I didn't see the clashes that would've resulted otherwise.

It must have been a big drain on resources considering all the relays involved. Also, it must have been a nightmare for Digital UK's (normally unhelpful) call centre.

Will: It's has always been on the cards too, this switchover was planned this way back in 2007 - UK Digital switchover simulation | ukfree.tv - independent digital TV and switchover advice .

Briantist: "ArqB subject to reactive power reduction of 87kW IF REQUIRED" is the wording in the Table of Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting Stations for Multiplex Licences (quoting version 4, my emphasis). There's no mention of it in Digital UK's Almanac nor any post-switchover events, so I'm assuming it isn't required.

There's a possible interaction with Pontop Pike Mux 1. Over Norton BBC Two will have shut down by then. Hemel Hempstead Mux 1 moves from C48 to C56 on the 14th to allow Sandy Heath ArqB to take C48 (in turn allowing Sandy ArqA to park on ArqB's current channel to clear C40 for Sutton Coldfield BBC B - phew!)

Oxford Mux C is currently on C48 but will move to Mux 1's current channel, C34, at DSO 1 on the 14th, which removes another potential interaction - though it's more likely that this is for Sandy Heath than for Emley Moor!

Briantist: I don't know how you manage to keep on top of all these channel movements (temporary and permanent) on your website!

Mike Dimmick: Just out of curiosity what's stopping ArqA on Sandy Heath simply moving to C48 to remove the clash with Sutton Coldfield BBCB? Moving both ArqA and ArqB seems like a complicated way to go about it.
