Jon-G: The list of relays and times is at Digital UK - Relay transmitter switching times . Some will be off-air until 3pm.

Since relays simply retransmit what they receive off-air from the parent station (which for some relays is another relay), you can't put up a caption specifically for the viewers of that relay. Also, most people don't know which relay they're using! (They usually don't even know which main transmitter provides the service.) Most relays only serve small pockets that aren't covered by a larger transmitter. It's very hard to target communications specifically to viewers who will have a long outage, so you just get generic messages of 'could be off 'til lunchtime'.

Classic fudge, my signal went off from the Malvern transmitter just after midnight. Didn't do anything till this morning and now only have BBC channels!??! Is there a delay in the other channels powering up or will my Tv life be ad-free forever?

BWogan: Yes, the relay transmitters do not come back until later on in the day, but Malvern was back at 6am.

Thanks Briantist. Sony is a FULL Freeview HDTV. Humax is a non HD. So why am l having problems getting Channels 59 and 60. Never had this problem, when we lived in Herefordshire and had the switchover on Ridge Hill. The tv and box are the same. So why is it being a problem in Malvern?.

I live in the postcode WR5 1. Signal has been poor (blocky/intermittent) since the 7th September. No improvement seen this evening.

All channels are now the same standard of signal. BBC channels and radio are worse than previously. ITV and Channel 4 are better than before (they were appalling before switchover).

Using Windows Media Center. Is there anything I can do about this, or are we now stuck with sub-standard signal?
