I seem to have lost ALL Freeview channels. Analogue channels are still present,
My digibox says both signal quality and signal strength are GOOD, but fails to find any channels when I try a re-tune. My postcode is RG41 5DA.

BBC channels suddenly gone down in strength, most of time cannot pick up, other times get intermittent signal only. Has only happened since I have been on holiday in last 2 weeks. All other channels receiving fine.
Location: Wokingham, Berks .

Dave: As Hannington is indicated as being your best bet on the trade predictor you should carry out a signal check on BBC1 to make sure that Mux Ch50 is seen, and not Ch25 (Crystal Palace) or Ch53 (Oxford)

Although if any of the alternatives mentioned are seen then Hanningtons Mux Ch50 will likely be up in the 800 ranges, the only way around the problem being the manual tuning in of Ch50 after having blanked the channel memory out, this done by scanning without the aerial being connected.

I have 2 Freeview Sony sets which receive all the channels with no problems. I have just bought a new Freeview Panasonic set
TX-L22D28BW and all the Freeview channels work fine except Hannington channel 50 so BBC1, BBC2, BBC news etc. It says signal strength is low. I get BBC1 and BBC2 fine on analogue, but why does the new set have problems and not the Sonys. Will the digital signal strength be increased so I get BBC1 and BBC2 on the Panasonic after switchover in February 2012?

Nick: Using your post code Hannington is forecast as being variable on any of the Muxes that can be received in your area, as only four is indicated. Crystal Palace (or even Oxford) is forecast as good though, so you should blank out what you have stored by scanning without the aerial being connected, then after reconnecting try a manual tune on BBC1 from Crystal Palace on Mux Ch25 to see what comes up.

If nothing is shown then try the same test on Oxford, BBC1 being on Mux Ch53.

I have to say though that Panasonic TV's have excellent tuners as far as sensitivity is concerned, and I suspect that the Panasonic has picked up a different BBC1 from that used on your Sony TV's, so did you verify the actual BBC Mux channel thats being received on your Sony to cross check it with the Panasonic?

JB38-my reception forecast for Midhurst is predicted to be variable with four blanks yet I still get 5 out 6 multiplexes perfectly and the other one variable with a contract 18.
If you want to go on the roof, then Crystal Palace will be best-presuming you have a group A aerial.

Matt: This is the problem with reception predictions made on post codes, as quite often a post code can cover quite a large area, and if that area is in a category of being difficult, then any predictions seen are only really approximate indications of what's liable to be expected, as there is no substitute for an on-site test being made.

This of course as demonstrated by your own findings.
