cass: Is it a PVR-9300T or PVR-9300T/500 by any chance?
If so, it is on the list of firmware updates being broadcast:
DTG :: DTT Receiver Downloads
I am wondering if it was in the process of updating or was about to update when you switched it off.
If you turn it off at the wall when you aren't using it, then you would be best advised to leave it turned on so (hopefully) it will perform the update whlst unattended.
Look at the version that it is running. The one being broadcast is UPTTF 1.00.026. Is it older than this? If so, I would suspect that it is going to attempt to update.

JoeB: If you wait until 18th April 2012, you will be able to get 80% of the Freeview services from the Crystal Palace transmitter with a normal rooftop aerial.
The Hanninton will give you, from 22nd February 2012, the public service Freeview channels, but not a full service.
All you need is a "Class I" rooftop aerial. It would be sensible to use satellite-grade coaxial cable as you might stand a good chance of getting the whole Freeview service from the Crystal Palace transmitter.

Ref: previous posting... I receive from the Hannington transmitter.
As at 11am all MUX2 transmissions seem to be back to normal... I have a 10 element aerial with an amplifier which gives me a signal quality of 2/3 on MUX1 A / C and 1/2 on MUX2 / B. MUX D seems to be the best quality of 4/5; Signal strength is several points higher than the quality... usually about 3 points.
