I have retuned this morning to find that the BBC A mux now has frequent break-up. The signal quality is significantly lower than before the move. I'm not sure if it is working on reduced power temporarily, or if we have to put up with this until stage 2 of the switchover or even until the power-up in April.

Andy Fraser: It's certainly NOT on low power! You need to see Freeview signals: too much of a good thing is bad for you | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice for help.

I am definitely on the correct mux (45) and I have tried a 9dB attenuator which took the signal level from 67 to 58 and the quality from 89 to 69. 45 isn't used by any nearby transmitters. I have no duplicate channels.
Unless my aerial has a frequency notch at ch.45 (unlikely as BBC2 analogue was OK before the switchover), I can't see any other explanation than that the transmitted power is reduced, at least in my direction (SE from Hannington).

We seem to have a very poor signal and it would appear to be getting worse, I have retuned my TV, my post code is SL7 3BU with the switch over will there be an increase in signal strength?

Brian Jonson: There will be a significant increase in signal strength in April after the London switchover.
There should be smaller increases in signal strength at each stage of the Hannington switchover, but I'm not seeing it so far (see above).

Hi - I'm in west Oxford using Hannington - after a retune this morning I still have no BBC1/2/3
Looking at the list of muxes above I'm not sure which channel this should be on since we're now in the "between 8th & 22nd Feb" hole... ? C45?

Brian Jonson: As shown at the top of the page, multiplex BBCA at 50kW has replaced the old Mux1 BBC service at 20kW at Hannington.
However, at your location you are using the Crystal Palace transmitter and will see no changes until 4th/18th April when the signal go from 20kW to 200kW.

Ant: Yes ch. 45 for the BBC channels. But I'm not convinced that it is at full power yet (see above).

Ant: As shown at the top of the page (more than a few times) the BBC services are now on frequency C45 (666.0MHz).
You must do a "first time installation" to get the channels back or My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice if you can't find that in your menus.

Andy Fraser: According to Digital UK there are no directional restrictions on the high power digital services.
"Following switchover and related technical events the Hannington primary transmitter will provide a new omni-directional feed to match current analogue coverage and give good reception in Basingstoke. This follows the removal of the current Freeview footprint constraint that protects Guildford analogue coverage."
