hello Derek and Steve,
thank you very much for your input, that is very helpful. I tried the 'reset' several times to no avail, until I decided to unplug everything, and reconnect later. I tuned the tv on its own, and it worked (albeit not all the channels available before switchover). Retuned the DTR box. At least the two items are now talking to each other. My Bbc channels remain jerky, pixelating etc. Maybe high pressure has something to do with it. I too, find the change to vertical polarisation fascinating. Potential reception trouble? Kim V: Confirm that the jerky BBC channels are coming in on channel 24 and not 46 which is Winterborne Stickland or even 61 which is Mendip.

Thanks to Stevem for pointing me to the A.T.V Aerials site. This is the first time I have seen the timetable so clearly produced. I will now wait until 18 April for the vertical test. It was also nice to see that the "unique" polarisation was indeed for minimising co-channel interference, just as I presumed! But it would have been nice if those in the Rowridge are had been told, or is it only the trade who find out about such things?

Thanks to Dave Lindsay for pointing out the timing too. And in answer to your question. I can get a weak analogue signal from the Parkstone relay, but it is not transmitting Freeview yet. I presume it will transmit Freeview "lite" after switchover???? Is there another Poole relay? Please enlighten me?

Kim V. Today I have had virtually perfect BBC MUX signals from Rowridge. Just a few brief bits of pixellation at lunchtime. The high pressure zone has moved away from the critical area of northern France that causes the "lifts" and co-channel interference. You may have variable gain from different frequencies from your aerial system? The move of the BBC MUX may have caused you to get a lower signal. Again, waiting until Wednesday and, now thanks everyone, April 18 for the extra power and other MUXes on vertical polarisation, will be the time to try to get things working properly?

Oh what fun!?

Mike:

I have read with interest the comments re the COMS power up on the 18th April. What exactly are these COMS?

The power will be boosted to the muxes A,C,D listed at the top of this page and which contain what I would call the minor channels.
This delay is to wait for the switchover at Crystal Palace to complete (4th and 18th April) and to avoid Crystal Palace users getting interference before then.

The table at Rowridge Transmitter gives the details and the link just above the table labelled "Digital UK`s installer guide ..." says that a retune 'may' be required on 18th April.

Mike:

Thanks Steve, someone else had lead me to believe that all the muxes were increasing in power then, I am currently experimenting to find the best place for my old yagi 18A aerial. So far I have got a weak but usable signal from the BBC using the Rowridge V. (I hope to be the first user in Poole with a V polarised aeriel on my roof pointing to Rowridge!)

Derek Green: The "Poole" relay I referred to is at Parkstone. It will be a "lite" transmitter.

When do the COM muxes at Rowridge go from being A (64 QAM 2K), C (16QAM 2K) and D (16QAM 2K) to COM4 (64 QAM 8K), COM5 (64 QAM 8K) and COM6 (64 QAM 8K)? Will it be tonight, or will it be when they adopt their final powers and UHF channels on 18 April 2012?

I will not be able to claim any kudos, but might I be the first in Poole to have a VP aerial in my loft (unverifiable unless I give you permission to go in my loft!)?
