For the past couple of weeks I have had no reception of programmes on Tacolneston channel 42 on two older Humax receivers, a TV and PVR. Both stopped receiving channel 42 at the same time. All other receivers in the house receive channel 42 perfectly. I have tried a Humax 9200 PVR and a Humax 8000 PVR side by side using the same aerial. The 9200 receives channel 42, the 8000 does not. They both give signal strength around 85%, but the 9200 has 100% data quality, the 8000, 0% data quality. A retune apparently finds all the missing programmes, but selecting one gives a "No Signal" error My guess is there has been a small change in the transmission standard on channel 42, which the older Humax software cannot cope with. Does anyone know if this is so?

Problem solved. Advice from Humax was to do a default reset instead of just clearing programme list, then re-tune. After that channel 42 re-appeared. Guess the software just did not like the number "42". Maybe the software programmer was a fan of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!

I have been having trouble with HD channels on Freeview from Tacolneston.Picture pixelates and then loss of signal.
Problem is ongoing since switch over.
I know of at least 3 other people in the immediate area to me who have the same problem, but have been told there is no known problem in the area.
Had new aerail fitted in September to be ready for switch over and have had the contractor out 3 times to check out the aerial.Signal strength, and quality are ok.

i have been up to recently having no problems with my freeview from tacolneston but in the last couple of weeks or so particularly the hd channels have been breaking up.upon checking my box's menu i find i have a 40% signal strength at best.is this normal for lowestoft or is there something that needs looking at(signal quality is 100%)?

I wonder if Tacolneston's signal will change at the extreem distance, when the old mast is knocked down - it is a little to the west of the new one.
I assume the delay, is for transfering other services such as radio from the old, to the new mast?

Bob: There was a planning application for the retention of two masts pending a decision on whether additional antennas were required for the transmission of the proposed Muxes7/8/9. If the old mast does cause any disturbance to the radiation pattern I would have thought that it is more likely that the effect would be seen closer to the transmitter site given the difference in height between the masts.

Hi, I am in Brundall and on Tacolneston transmitter, and although the message says dtv signal working nmormally during engineering works, I've been getting severe evening interference with signal quality going down to 0 at times.
Have done the reset procedure, checked connections, there is no induction interference.
Is it my kit or is it the Tacolneston work causing this please?

Appreciate any help/advice.

David

David Prior: Is this on every mux, or just certain ones? Check that the correct set of frequencies have been stored for Tacolneston, as it is possible that Aldeburgh could have been found when scanning, and those channels stored for one or more PSB muxes. Otherwise does the problem coincide with street lighting or a central heating boiler coming on? If it occurs at the same time every day it points to faulty equipment connected to a timer or automatic sensor. Routine work at transmitter sites normally takes place in the daytime and on weekdays only.
