optimist: As far as your mast head amplifier is concerned, if you cut off its power supply then its not the case that the signal will pass through unamplified but will actually be attenuated to less than it would be straight from the aerial, something which could possibly work to your advantage after April 18th provided that the signal received is strong enough.

My reason for saying that is that you would appear to be located in a less than ideal area for reception, as even after CP's switch to high power the predictions seen aren't exactly brilliant, and I also notice that Sandy which is 10 miles closer than CP doesn't provide good reception across all six muxes at the same time on any occasion, Sudbury having a permanent "variable" reception status across all muxes.

Its really one of these cases of wait and see, as CP might not have quite the effect
that its increase in power would suggest.

Hi,

got SAMSUNG PS64D8000FUXXU two weeks ago. since then I've fot some similar issues as you guys with certain freeview channels. I was unable to receive itv and all hd channels. I have a 50'' Lg tv and everything is fine in this model. Samsung engineer told be that my new build-in tuner is more sensitive for any signal disruptions than previous lg.
Now solution! I've noticed that signal is getting better when I'm actually moving a cable connected to my outdoor antena (roof antena facing CP, 100% signal on LG tv). for some unknown reasons now I'm able to receive ALL channels without any disruptions when my cable is touching tv back cover! (signal boost?) Good old brown tape solved the problem :). Not ideal I know but at least it's working now. Error-bit is still high (around 1600) but with 35% signal level (on HD) everything is fine now.
Try it. It might help you as well.

To andy lewis,or anybody suffering intermittant pixelletion
you could be experiencing,1,Ethernet Mains adaptor interference, those awful things that use All your house wiring, to transmit ethernet signals, out through the roof!!!, They can be very "Bursty" 2,an arcing Heating, Room thermostat, 3,a noisy CFL Lamp, 4 A newly installed Flourescent Street lamp,(yes they are very noisy) a sniffer can be an old VHF Airband or Am/fm portable radio set off tune !!! Dave, I think it must on reduced power as I live near St Albans about 22 miles from CP and its quite a grainy picture which is not normal for here.

Dave/Tim: There is no reduction in power prior to switch-off. The analogue channels broadcast normally as they always have done right up to the point at which they are suddenly switched off. It's basically a flick of a switch.

To paul. The house is new build - 7 yrs old, doubt it could be the wiring. My wireless router is not located near any TVs. My aerial is situated in loft only 4 months old and has booster attached to it .

Andy Lewis: So far, analogue channels 1-4 have been switched off, but all digital multiplexes are still on. I'm expecting them to go in the next 15-25 minutes. Don't retune until after 6am as the services may come and go between now and then.

BBC Two analogue will never be coming back. ITV1 analogue will appear on BBC Two's old frequency, so if you don't retune your analogue TV, select 2 to watch ITV1, rather than 3. But you should get used to watching through your digital tuner now, as the rest of the analogues go for good in two weeks' time.
