Hi all.
Quick question, I was under the impression that as of today, BBC HD, ITV HD, C4 HD etc, would all become available, yet they are not received.

I'm in the SS12 9NF postcode. BBC 1 signal strength had gone to 90% so I removed the booster incase the signal was too strong. I've read that its meant to be around 75%. Now its removed its down to about 50%.

Anyone else have the same prolem? how do I get these channels

Matt: Only BBC standard definition channels go on full power today. The rest, including HD, will follow in two weeks' time.

Stephen: ONdigital boxes will not work after switchover because they do not comply fully with the DVB-T standard as they do not work in 8k mode which is what is used after switchover.

Alex: Before switchover digital services are on lower power than after switchover. BBC standard definition services are now on full power and in two weeks time the rest will follow.

I'm within a few miles of the Crystal Palace transmitter and have never previously had reception problems, but..

Since I retuned (auto scan to replace all channels) my Freeview HD T.V. today, as part of the digital switchover, all channels now lose the signal for a couple of seconds every minute.

Very annoying! Has anyone else got the same problem?

Thanks very much for the hints on this very useful site

Recurring Blue Retune Request problem solved.

It seems that to do a proper factory reset and totally clear the memory, at least on Goodmans and maybe Bush STB's its necessary to remove the aerial while doing the initial scan.

If the STB is then switched off, and the aerial reconnected, this automatically generates the set-up menu on screen, that
you get when you first install the box.

Indicating that a proper factory reset has at last been made.

From there its just a question of
going through the installation process
just one more time, scanning for all the channels and no more blue screens.

Roger: Being in such close proximity to the transmitter it is probably the level of signal which is overwhelming your receiver. At the moment only one multiplex has gone on high power (although at a few miles even the "low" ones are pretty high). In two weeks time when the rest follow, the problem could get worse.

See Freeview signals: too much of a good thing is bad for you | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice

Get yourself an attenuator for a few pounds off eBay, although with the bank holidays you may be waiting a week for it.

In the mean time, to reduce the level of signals going into your TV, as a temporary fix you could try:

- a set-top aerial.

- if the aerial connector is one that screws together, unscrew the outer part so there is just the inner pin protruding. Then insert that pin into the socket on your TV.

- try just an aerial lead (not connected to the aerial). You may have to move it about to best effect and fasten it on the wall.

- a wire coathanger in the inner part of the aerial socket may do the trick.

I used to be able to watch FreeviewHD on my PC using a USB DVB-T2 device, but today I can find no signal on 554MHz. (In fact, I couldn't find anything a couple of days ago, either).

Is FreeviewHD still being transmitted, or has it been suspended until 18th April.

This is with the Crystal Palace transmitter.
