Nick: I have to say that the reception predictions for your area do not at any time inspire confidence as far as reliability of reception is concerned, and that applies to all the stations that surrounds your area.
The present power indications are that SDN (Ch49) is 14kw - ArqA (Ch54) at 2.2kw - ArqB (Ch63) being 2.2Kw, although the two latter muxes are indicated as not being possible to receive, and even when all muxes change to 100kw high powered operation on June 27th they still remain with a permanently variable status, and with no signs of this changing at any time.
Your area certainly appears as being one that Freesat was intended to cater for.

Nick: What was said is of course referring to reception from Sudbury, as yes! as far as aerials are concerned there is similarities when comparing the two mentioned, but in your type of area its more a case of careful positioning of the aerial, and with that not necessarily meaning at a great height but to the left and right of say gutter mounted positions if an up and downstairs height is being referred to. ((i.e; about 16 feet or so)

Nick: At the top of the page, under the heading "After switchover frequency notes" there are references to "mid-2012". These dates have now been finalised and the events are due to take place on 27th June.
I assume that at the time the text was placed on this page, the sources did not have a specific date.
However, if you refer to Digital UK Tradeview predictor, you will see that it is now 27th June that the changes will take effect.
Also refer to Ofcom's licences document, V7 27th January 2012 which gives the date that Sudbury's COMs are due to increase in power:

So arq b is on ch63, not 50+ currently? And the power greater than in the main table? And then will move to 56, so a particularly wideband aerial will not be needed?

Nick: Just a small correction to what I mentioned, ArqA is at 3kw and not 2.2kw, although in real terms as far as reception is concerned its a bit academic except in situations where the signal is just making it above the receivers reception threshold and no more.
ArqB has been on Ch63 since the latter end of 2011, and as far as your aerial is concerned, as Sudbury's channels span from 41 - 60 (pres 63) after June 27th then if you want to be fussy a group E (brown tip) aerial is the exact grouping, but a log 40 or similar would suffice, all logs being wideband.

Kevin Hodges: Well yes, you are basically quite correct on this point as far as main station transmitters are concerned, and so a wideband aerial could be said to cater for all eventualities, and with the only stations that can be excluded from this being the PSB only Freeview "light" relays, as they are likely to remain that way for the foreseeable future.

OK, since Q3 last year in CM2 I lost ITV 4, Film 4 etc and I know it's not coming back til June 2012 but.. I noticed Sky News breaking up recently, re-scans fail to find the channel so it's gone now, nothing has changed on my end all the equipment is post May 2011.
Has there been anther dip in power from Sudbury at all?

Brian O'Keefe: The Hertford relay, as part of the Crystal Palace group, completed switchover last Wednesday when it began to use C54 for digital. It had previously used C54 for Channel 4 analogue.
Now that Crystal Palace has switched and is on full power, you could try manually tuning to its ArqA on C22 and ArqB on C28. You may be able to receive these off the back of your aerial until Sudbury goes to full power.
