The symbol shows the location of the Bilsdale (North Yorkshire, England) transmitter which serves 570,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Bilsdale (North Yorkshire, England) mast?

Sorry it took me so long but after trying with the borrowed group W wideband larger aerial,set-top aerial, signal booster/amplifier,etc,despite its difficulties i have managed to receive the BBCA multiplex from Bilsdale on frequency 26 in my location the far north of Halifax,HX2 9JY house number 3,using the larger borrowed group W wideband with amplifier on,Signal Quality 99% Signal Strength 67%,without the signal booster it occasionally pixellates, however the set-top aerial with and without signal amplification gives poor results at best frequent pixellations at worst No Signal. And before i mention it the larger aerial is in my bedroom so a mixed response to the 100kw BBCA mux from Bilsdale for now, interesting to see in two weeks time whether the D3+4 mux from Bilsdale on frequency 29 is attainable in my location despite a single frequency interference issue concerning Waltham SDN mux also on frequency 29 normally not receivable unless an inversion effect situation lifts that signal towards my abode. No BBCB (HD) im afraid as my box is non-HD but the 50kw COM mux's come two weeks time is less promising as far as i am concerned, still there's no harm as at least Emley Moor is my main transmitter plus Belmont and Winter Hill as well as Bilsdale are ideal alternatives in emergency situations.

Mark Fletcher: I will be interested to see if Thomas can receive the ITV mux or any of the commercial muxes come 26th, as although you are predicted to receive both BBC and the HD service on that date with a status of good, (BBC presently good) ITV being on a variable status but with no commercials possible, Thomas on the other hand is only predicted to receive BBC and the HD service on a variable status and no commercials whatsoever, that including ITV.

I receive all the Freeview multiplexes from Emley Moor and am quite happy with that. From 6am I checked and Bilsdale analogue 1, 3, 4, and 5 have come back on. I also retuned my Freeview TV and it picked up the new BBCA Mux from Bilsdale, putting its channels in the 800s. Emley Moor's channels remained on their normal numbers.

The signal from Bilsdale is viewable, but the quality is very low and I get occasional blockiness or freezing on it. Still, I can sort of choose between regions for BBC News now.

Jake: If you have BBC One where BBC Two analogue was, then this has happened because the new BBC digital (Freeview) signal is on the UHF channel (frequency) that BBC One used to occupy.

At the first stage of switchover at all transmitters, BBC Two analogue is turned off to allow for BBC standard definition digital services.

In some cases the UHF channel used by the BBC standard definition services is that of one of the other analogue channels and in such circumstances the other channel takes the place of BBC Two analogue for the fortnight until switchover completes.

If this is the case, then you cannot be receiving your TV directly from Bilsdale as its new BBC digital signal is on the channel used by its BBC Two (and therefore BBC One analogue remains where it has always been). However, its relays at Bainbridge, Guisborough, Peterlee and Whitby are all broadcasting BBC One analogue on the channel that was formerly used by BBC Two analogue and hence BBC One will appear under button number 2.

Just for the record, in Wetherby, Bilsdale ch26 is receivable off the back of my loft mounted Emley Moor antenna(which is a wide-band type) at 23% signal and 90-100% quality on my Humax PVR and so is quite usable. Analogue reception off the back of this antenna was unwatchable. I'm looking forward to DSO2 at Bilsdale. Also according to your maps for Emley coverage, I am outside of its 'green' area. Wrong! I have had solid reception of all mpx's pre- and post-DSO with HD.

Mike Davison, I'm not surprised that you can receive the new high-powered BBC multiplex from Bilsdale with your loft aerial on the back of it. I live 3 to 4 miles south of Wetherby, and I can receive that multiplex with a small four element indoor aerial downstairs looking through the window towards Bilsdale, and depending where I put it, it is Signal Strength roundabout 60% and signal quality 100%. Back in June when they did an overnight test I received all the multiplexes with an indoor aerial through the same the same window. But of course I receive my signals from Emley Moor transmitter.
