Retuned my Freeview HD box today Receive BBC HD,BBC N.I HD,UTV HD,C4 HD,but not receiving any RTE Channels receiving signal from Limavady myself loft aerial.
Went to retune my friends Freeview HD set boxs tonight he lives in the other side of the town (Coleraine) and he received All HD Channels on most of his freeview HD boxs and all RTE Channels including RTE 2 HD ,9 RTE CHANNELS IN TOTAL.But some of his standard freeview boxs strugle to receive ITV SD.So I guess he must be reciving them from his RTE Aerial. So many tvs and I have not worked out how to improve ITV SD Channel without losing all RTE Channels. He has 2 Aerials on the roof,1 RTE and 1 Limavady...

Not picking up any of the HD channels on 55 limavady transmitter or 47 Derry transmitter. All other channels are perfect and strong signal. Anyone no what's happening? I have the correct HD equipment.
By the way i receive RTE2 HD and all the other RTE channels from HOLYWELL HILL transmitter with no problems. Any information would be appreciated.

I am sorry to hear about the problems you are experiencing with your TV and I understand this can be frustrating. Please be advised that unfortnuately your TV does not have the required built in tuner to pick up Freeview HD. Your TV has a DVB-T tuner which is a standard digital tuner, to recieve Freeview HD the TV would need a DVB-T2 tuner.
Although you need a DVB-T2 tuner to recieve Freeviw HD, you only require a DVB-T tuner to recieve Saorview HD due to the format it is broadcasted in, and this is why you are getting those. I am sorry for the inconvenience caused here.
Please see the tech specs of your TV below for further information:

david parker: Limavady does not broadcast RT because it is considered that there is sufficient overspill from the Republic.
At your location Limavady is on a bearing of 270 degrees. Moville is at 289 degrees.
You may, if you are lucky, be able to receive from both with a single aerial pointed somewhere between the two. Or, you may be able to do a manual tune with it as it is and receive from Moville.
Moville broadcasts on UHF channel 45. Go to the manual tune function and select C45. Before you press the button to scan/add channels, see if it gives any indication of strength/quality.
Failing that, other possibilities may include:
- Receive from Divis instead. The adjacent Black Mountain transmitter carries RT/TG4, although not as many as Moville which is a Saorview transmitter. These two transmitters are close enough that a single aerial will work.
- Receive Freeview from Divis and Saorview from Moville using two aerials combined into one feed.
If a single aerial pointing somewhere between Moville and Limavady doesn't work, then I don't think that you will be able to combine (diplex) two because of the UHF channels used by each transmitter.
If you are looking at receiving from Limavady and Moville with one aerial, then be aware that the higher the gain, the narrower the acceptance angle. So a high-gain aerial may not have a big enough angle of acceptance to receive from two transmitters that are 19 degrees apart.

According to the above map the Limavady transmitter can reach Scotland and Malin Head
in Donegal to deep into County Down but not Strabane which is only 30 miles away.
Can anyone explain this.
