Re my recent post.
For some reason this web site keeps showing my transmitter as Salisbury. This is wrong. I am on Rowridge, Salisbury, though closer, offers no advantage over Rowridge in my location.

It may be sometime before the additional HD channels from Rowridge start. I sent Digital UK an email as I had been expecting them to start this month,
There response was "The Com7 HD frequency from the Rowridge transmitter has not launched yet. This is due to happen before July, in time for the commonwealth games. I would advise you to regularly check the above link, as the details are updated and a firm date will be added as soon as we are informed."

Took advantage of yesterday's fine weather spell to realign aerial to vertical polarity and replace cable to MHA. The cable was the main fault. Cracked in several places with broken braiding in one place, with the cable just hanging on the central conductor. Rain obviously completed the circuit to enable days of good signal strength and quality on all muxes!
What mystifies me is why, throughout, the BBC Channel 24 mux remained good signal strength and quality. To quote the aerialsandtv.com web site "RF reception really is a black art, not a science"!

If you throw two stones into still water the circular waves spread out and where the two circles meet, there are
points where the waves cancel each other out. When it comes to UHF waves, the two stones represent the transmitter and a reflected echo from anything in the line of sight, usually there are, especially in cities, myriads of reflections. So when putting up an antenna, there are dead spots. Moving the mount of an aerial, say 12" in
any direction, can make a vast difference. This is one of the reasons why installers use Crank or Swan Neck poles. That's why because you can't see the waves, unless you have a signal analyser, it is called a ' black art '
Sometimes I go to jobs and I drop the aerial lower down and there is drastic improvement in the BER reading.

Why has Rowridge so far got COM7, but not COM8? Will COM8 come to fruition or not? If they've abandoned COM8, why not use the equipment and frequencies originally intended for COM8 to increase COM7 to all the 80 "full Freeview" transmitters - i.e. ones that carry SDN, ArqA and ArqB?

Turned my aerial back to horizontal with masthead amp, so now I can receive the channels on com7, Im in post code po7 6be using Rowridge transmitter, the signal strength is not very good though, guess this is due to the 25,000W power, is this the maximum it will transmit in.

in your location you will end up with issues on other muxes too, I find installing near you difficult for reception on HP so always use VP.
I would put it back to VP and sacrifice the new coms.

Up until now I have not had any problems receiving Rowridge on HP.
The new COM7 came on air and again, no problem, all channels including the weaker COM7 coming through clear with good signal quality.
According to this site, engineering works were going on and as predicted I had some loss of channels at times. However, according to site information, the engineering works have now finished, but I am getting big fluctuations in signal quality (interestingly not strength which still remains good). It can go from 100% to nothing and just stay like that for hours.
Is anybody else having this problem? Does anybody know if the engineering is overunning, or is there another problem here.
