The symbol shows the location of the Mendip (Somerset, England) transmitter which serves 720,000 homes. The bright green areas shown where the signal from this transmitter is strong, dark green areas are poorer signals. Those parts shown in yellow may have interference on the same frequency from other masts.

Are there any planned engineering works or unexpected transmitter faults on the Mendip (Somerset, England) mast?

Ian Jones: If you think your difficulties and those of your neighbour could possibly be interference from 4G services operating in the 800MHz band then you need to contact at800. This is the organisation set-up by the mobile operators and tasked with alleviation of reception issues:

Ian Jones: If at800 do send you a filter, because it is suspected that 4G interference could be the culprit, then it must be fitted before the signal amplifier. Thus, if your amplifier is on the roof then a filter will need to be fitted up there, but not the usual plug type they usually send. You will need to raise this issue with them should it apply.

Aerial on roof.

I seem to have a problem with Channel 33: All the HD channels break up and are unwatchable.

I don't know what to do first to work out what the problem is.

Anyone know of a aerial installer who knows what they are doing and won't rip you off?

Thanks

It seems to be intermittent.

BBC News channel seems to break up quite often, but I recorded 'Film review' and it recorded without a single problem, but that was for only 15 minutes though?

Anthony: Should you have two aerials one on Mendip and one on Wenvoe and these combine into one downlead, then this may be the cause of your issue receiving PSB1 on C49, and indeed any channel below C51 from Mendip.

Dave Lindsay:

Thanks for the reply.
Can you recommend a professional aerial installer in the Weston Super Mare area (I'm not sure if you are from the Weston super mare area?)?

Anthony: Unfortunately not. I'm not an aerial installer myself and I'm a long way away in Yorkshire.

If you have two aerials, wired as described in my previous posting, then you will probably be able to turn the Wenvoe-facing aerial to Mendip, this obviously forfeiting reception of Wenvoe. The other alternative is to replace the Mendip aerial with a log periodic such as the Log 36 mentioned here (this, I believe, being a 36 element log made by Vision Products):

Mendip Transmitter

V10-36L 36 Element Stub Tuner Super Log Periodic Aerial ? Vision Products - Powerful Products. Easy Installation. Excellent Value

A terrain plot shows you would have a clear path were it not for high ground at about 3.5 to 4 miles out and 6 to 7.5 miles out:
