Hello we've also suddenly have very bad HD free view channel reception. It was absolutely perfect until Tuesday and now it's choppy and the audio is out of sync, surely this is related to the above comment. We actually thought it might be our tv as we have a new one but we went and changed it today and still have the same problem....

Is this coincidence or perhaps there is something wrong with the transmitter?

Hani: Hi Hani. You are the second person in Salisbury to report HD reception problems today. Someone in Kent has also posted the same issue, so the problem appears to be affecting transmitters across the South of England! unfortunately, nothing has been publicised about these problems, other than viewers placing postings right here on UKFREE.TV!!! You could always contact individual programme providers, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, etc. to alert them to the issue. in the meantime, I think you're stuck with SD until the HD issues are sorted by the broadcasters! Richard, Norwich.

Thanks for your quick reply Richard that's really helpful. We just checked film4 +1 and this is having the same issue which is on the same transmitter so looks like it is this as all the other channels are fine.

Hani: Hi again Hani. As you probably realise, Film4+1 on channel number 45 is on the same multiplex as the public service HD channels, so if you can get Film4+1, but are still not getting BBC One HD, ITV HD, etc., it's definitely a broadcaster issue and not a problem with your setup! Richard.

Richard Cooper: Thanks for your reply. From other comments, it appears to be a transmitter problem. I've checked my setup and swapped different makes of set top boxes with different TV's and still have the same issue. I'll try to contact the broadcaster. Cheers.

Ditto here. I am at SP5 2LT, an aerial pointed to Salisbury and have a new 4K TV (a week ago). All was fine until mid week when the audio sync on HD went. I was told by Samsung that it was a known problem that they are working on. I then went to my YouView box and all was well until the picture would stutter for a varied amount of time.

To resolve this I have returned to my Freesat box and that is fine.

Roger: Hi, Roger. I am glad all is OK with your Freesat setup. As far as Freeview is concerned, several correspondents using the Salisbury transmitter have commented upon reception problems since Tuesday 14th. June. Yesterday, in particular, correspondents were commenting about loss of HD channels. At least one of the complainants is contacting the broadcaster of the channel he is unable to watch, having tried different set-top boxes and televisions! So it's probably not your new tv that's at fault after all. I'd give the broadcaster a few days to try to sort thigs out before taking things any further with Samsung. Richard, Norwich.

Yes I've had the same problems. Also if I try to pause live TV or record any the HD channels the picture freezes and there is no sound.

David Smith: Hi, David. Remember that with HD you can have 'too much signal'( signal too strong), which can overload the circuits in the receiver, and that this can cause the picture to freeze, whereas a lot of people think it's just too 'little a signal' (weak signal) that can cause a frozen picture! Check that your signal STRENGTH is around 70%, whereas 95- 100% SRENGTH would be too high! QUALITY, on the other hand is " what it says on the tin", so you can't have too much quality: a QUALITY of 95 - 100% would be very good. If you strength is too high, there are various ways to reduce it, which I can explain in a future post if you're interested! It rather sounds as if you may have one or two other issues with your HD receiver, if you're also having problems with pausing and recording, but let's sort out 'live viewing' first, shall we? Richard, Norwich.

Sorry not to have got back after my original post - I should change my settings to daily messages!

I've done several retunes on both the TV and the PVR but can't remember when the last one was, but probably around 14th when I posted. As I didn't know about the atmospheric problems I haven't tried again since, and won't have time today.

I've taken the PVR completely out of the loop, and the TV is working OK. But not exactly satisfactory if I want to record a C4 programme! As I'm about to move (closer to the transmitter in SP2) there's not much point in spending loads of time & money on it. But from Hani's comments it seems we might have the same problem after moving :(

We're not using HD, just ordinary steam TV.
