Hello We also are having problems for the last 2/3 days in Wymeswold Leicestershire no signal picture breaking up have had everything checked. Also updating channels the quality of signal use to go to 10 now it has gone down to 5and 1!!

Edward J Hruszka: I'm on Waltham, and the transmitters fine. Check your signal strength - is it very high or very low? If its very high, look at 'too much of a good thing' on this site, and if its very low, then you have a problem with your system, perhaps a loose wire, etc.
Too high a signal will lead to breakups, quality of signal being very low, etc - if you've got a booster, etc, then that might be causing the problem. But 'no signal' with a low strength means just that - the signal is too weak, and thats down to your system.
We really need a postcode and which channels the breakup is happening on.

Edward J Hruszka: I suspect that the problem you refer to as well as same experienced by others, is most likely related to conditions associated with the current spell of high pressure sweeping in a somewhat irregular pattern across the country, as seen on Wm Hepburn's Tropospheric ducting charts, early Friday evening having apparently been particularly bad for reception in my own household in the Stamford area, members of reporting severe levels of pixelation on virtually all channels from Waltham and with zero HD reception from Belmont on C28, (more than one aerial in use) a test made later on by myself indicating similar difficulties from the Sandy (Anglia) transmitter, the situation having cleared to a certain extent much later in the evening.
Unfortunately the forecast on said charts for the coming week does not look too promising, as although the high pressure is seen to ease up for a time on Monday it returns a few hours later, Thursday forecast as being the worst in this respect.
By the way, it should be pointed out that problems related to atmospheric pressure can wipe out reception in one area, whilst others residing only around 15 miles away (or less in some cases) are relatively unaffected.

Hello. I am having problems with my reception - I get an error message which says that there is no signal or the signal is too weak. I am using a Humax digibox, but also get breakups and intermittent 'no signal' messages when using the Freeview tuner in the TV. I am in Nottingham, postcode NG11 6JL. From the posts above it sounds like there has been some weather-based interference on the Waltham transmitter lately, so perhaps that is the source of my troubles too? I've never had any problems with signal before. I've checked all cables etc and everything seems fine. Any advice/thoughts?

Andrew: I'm on Waltham and have had no problems at all. Your also half the distance away from the transmitter that I am, so its likely to be your system.
Check actual signal strength on both Humax and TV - if they are both very low, then its your system - follow the pathway back up to the aerial. If they are very high, that can cause what looks like similar problems - see 'too much of a good thing' on this site for more details.
