David Gray: You would be better off looking at getting a roof aerial mounted in your loft, or just getting your existing aerial moved to another location on the roof where the birds will be less of a problem. Swindon is some distance from the Oxford transmitter and reception on the best indoor aerial still won't be anywhere near as good as using a proper rooftop or loft mounted aerial.

Nowhere in Swindon will any indoor aerial (the type that you have in the room) provide any reliable reception of either Oxford or Mendip. I used to live in Coleview and worked for a TV rental company so am aware of reception conditions in the area. As StevensOnln1 suggests, an outdoor aerial is required for Oxford, one in the loft may work in dry weather but may suffer in rain or snow.
A good log-periodic with sufficient gain is needed for Oxford reception in Swindon and I suggest at least a Log36 type. Do not be fooled into buying a 'digital' aerial as there is no such thing.

Hello,
out of nowhere tonight I lost signal on my freeview. We had moved the TV and box across the room but it's all plugged in fine etc. Switching cables over to second antenna port I get it back but trying to record I get "channel not installed" or "weak signal". Turning box off/on at wall brings it back (when on original antenna port) but then it goes again (and yet records the odd channel fine as if the signal's there).
Nothing going with Oxford transmitter in turn of works so unsure.
(Doing a first time installation scan does the same thing. Seems to be alright starting off recording on BBC1 for example with image but then changing channels brings up the blue screen "No Digital TV Signal Available")
Location is Aylesbury.

My signal from the Oxford transmitter has been weak from time to time. This week the signal has disappeared completely - signal strength went from 35% to 0%.
I followed the instructions for retuning and I now have 0 channels.
Can you please give further advice?

Your signal strength was too low before the problem appeared. Retuning has made matters worse as the TV was tuned before but now isn't. Retuning when you have weak signals is a bad idea.
As you are only about 28km from the Oxford transmitter you should be getting a much better signal than you report, so you almost certainly have a problem with your aerial system. The usual course of action is to check all the connections between the TV and the aerial, including checking the cables themselves for any damage or signs of water ingress. Having done all those checks, including unplugging and re-inserting all aerial plugs, you would normally check what signal strengths you now get. But as you have retuned and found nothing you will have to retune again and hope it finds some signals. Then you can check the strengths reported. The ideal is between 50% and 85% for SD multiplexes and between 60% and 85% for HD multiplexes. Your original 35% was way too low before.
If you you don't find any problems with the cables and connections, you need to call in a professional aerial installer. Be warned to avoid falling for the scam of a 'digital' aerial as there is no such thing. If the aerial needs replacing, it is wise to go for a log-periodic type that will be suitable for all current TV transmissions and those for the foreseeable future.

I am not receiving channel 60 stations on my 2 tvs all of a sudden. I have carried out the freeview reset as above and none of these channels are listed on the new channel list. Is there a problem with the Oxford transmitter , my pos code is OX10

Lost audio and video onPSB2 channels this morning (745ish) from Oxford transmitter. TV guide still shows when a channel selected, but no programmes. Other multiplexes / channels seem to be behaving normally. HP27 9DB
