Peter Ball:

The symptoms you describe are a classic indication that the PVR has a fault and needs internal attention. Alternatively, it may need to be replaced.

But try disconnecting it from the mains supply for at least five minutes. Then plkug in again and wait a further five minutes to let the box reset completely. Then try turning it on and checking its response.

Thanks for the reply Mike.
I switched off, as you suggested, did a full retune and deleted the channels that I would not wish to view.
So far the response time is back to normal and at least two programmes have recorded as I selected in the guide.
The PVR had been behaving itself upto the time I did the previous retune which made me suspicious it was the retune that was at fault. So many useless channels these days.
Kind regards

Peter Ball:

Glad it's all working properly again.

A retune will never affect the PVRs ability to record unless the channel is not available because of either an aerial fault, quite common, or a 'lock up' of the PVR. The process of switching off, waiting 5 minutes and switching back on forces the PVR electronics to restart and usually, but not always, clears such faults. If the power supply in the PVR has developed problems the fault could occur again. That would then suggest a replacement would be needed.

You do not ned to delete any channels, even if you never watch them. Having 'unwanted' channels does not affect the way the device works and merelt serves to confuse the software system as it expects to have a full listing of the available channels. If there are channels you don't watch then don't select them on the remote. No matter what you do, they will always appear in the channel guides, but if you delete them you will never know what programmes they were offering thast some of your visitors might want to watch.

why is it that nearly every evening cannels like Dave, Pick E4+1 and most +1 channels start to Pixelate it is so annoying yet when I check again in the morning everything is fine,, tid is very frustrating because if I retune I then lose half my channels and have to retune again the next day...
