When Talking Pictures stopped transmitting it said it needed a retune so I came to your site (today) to find where it is.
I always do a manual tune because otherwise ALL my favourite channel lists and ALL my scheduled recordings and series will be lost (on my Humax Fox T2 PVR) - taking me 30 minutes (or several days if I haven't photographed the lists).
I duly retuned C33 and spent 5 minutes putting BBC4HD C4/7HD and C4+1HD as they were.
I then found Talking Pictures still didn't work because your list is out of date - that's 2 days after the scheduled change.
Is it your policy to provide confusing and outdated information?
I had to go to a516digital.com to find out where it really is - it took me some time to find, and appears to be mainly for engineers.
Perhaps you should use it? Especially as you are the first place people look.
If I was responsible for publicly messing up like this I would be banging my head on the wall until it bleeds.

MikeB: Hi Mike, I do hope not!! In answer to your comment no, but, all other channels apart from these were being received full strength and now these are too. The only reason that I tried the booster on the upstairs circuit was because there were two connectors to that which, as the aerial lead runs under the floorboards would not be easy to re-route. The aerial is not using a powered splitter, just a simple splitter box. Downstairs is direct and I started having problems on these last week on these channels which has now solved itself !!

I can recommend the modified software for your HDR-Fox T2 it has the Tune Fix module. Does an auto tune and re populates the recording schedule. If you do a manual re tune with the modded software it also populates the schedule again after two reboots. If you Google

You will find it. It's a smorgasburg of useful additions that give added functionality.

Can anyone give me some advice on this problem? I watch Freeview channels on a less than one year old Panasonic TV in London W4 using the Crystal Palace transmitter. Recently all the main channels give a 'No signal' message and I thought this meant the aerial or the cabling to it had gone kaput - a view that was confirmed when I connected an indoor aerial up and BBC1, for instance, reappeared but, as in the case with indoor aerials, in a bit of a temperamental way. However, I've discovered it's not so simple as the outside aerial not working any more because a few channels - e.g. Classic FM on MUX COM6/frequency C28 and in particular London Live on MUX LW/frequency C29 still work through it. This seems to me very strange as frequency C29 is at 20kW so if anything I would expect this to be the first to go with a dodgy aerial. Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have.

Allan Cousens: Crystal Palace is one of the most powerful transmitters in the country and you aren't far away from it. Either you have a fault with your aerial/cabling/connections and are picking up some muxes from the flylead connected to the back of your TV or you could easily be suffering with signal overload (see the article "Too much of a good thing" on this website).

Bought my first Freeview HD television for Christmas and find that the com8 (ch35) multiplex keeps disappearing. It wasn't much of a loss, but now that BBC4 HD has moved to this group it's a little more annoying. I live in Ealing, West London, so well within the Crystal Palace footprint. Is this a known problem or likely to be a problem with my aerial?

NigelB: If your losing muxes, its almost certainly your system. As far as BBC4 HD is concerned, it moved mux, and a simple retune (which will often be done automatically) should bring it back.
But if your in Ealing, your signal should be very good, so I'd start by checking cables.

Freeview TVs usually have a facilty to check which channel they are tuned to and what the signal strength is. This will be detailed in your User Manual.
So please check the signal strengths and especially for COM 7 on channel 33 (570 MHz). Ideally you need signal strength to be between 60% and 85%, not more and not less. If you have more then look at "Too much of a good thing" on this website. If you have less then, as MikeB suggests, check all your cables are in perfect condition, correctly plugged in (always unplug and refit) and there is no damage. If you still can't get a reliable COM 7 reception then check whther your aerial is suitable for channel 33 (it should be if it is for Crystal Palace).
Could you also provide a full post code so that we contributors can check whether there are any known issues in your area.

The strengths of channels 33 and 35 are well down, but that possibly reflects the reduced transmission powers. However, I'm looping the aerial through an old Humax PVR and eventually came to realise that ch35 was disappearing whenever the PVR was turned on - I hadn't spotted that coincidence before. Turns out that the PVR was modulating its own output onto ch36 which was interfering with ch35. Now moved it up the scale and all is well. Perhaps a warning to others who had forgotten that these devices add their own signal to the aerial feed.

Is this aerial ( see link )suitable for Cyrstal Palace reception from postcode CM166Hu? outdoor installation, I want as compact an aerial as possible. What about 4g interference,should I buy an inline filter?
