andy: Have you checked for any loose or damaged cables or connections behind your TVs? Are they all connected to the same aerial? Do you have an amplifier/powered splitter and have you checked that it hasn't been inadvertently switched off or unplugged?

In response to Charles in Horsham I to lost ARQB programmes after the 21st and thought possibly the aerial needed replacing. I then remember the recommendation to follow the Freeview rest procedure. So before looking for a new aerial I did the reset as advised and ARQB was restored. So I urge you to do a reset as recommended if you have not done already so

Further to my posts a couple of weeks ago I had a professional installer to come round and test things and testing with his own wideband aerial he too had the same issue with not being able to receive channel 33 but other frequencies were fine. If he took the aerial higher he could get channel 33 but lost channel 29! I can't understand how I can simply not receive channel 33 when I could perfectly ok before the retune.

I have been a Freeview user for a number of years, using a set-top box to record programmes. Whether the timing is coincidental, or not, since the recent re-tune at the end of March, I have had difficulties recording programmes on certain channels.

Using the on-screen guide, I select the programme I want to record and complete the process. A minute or so before the published time, the recording light starts to flash. Normally, upon receipt of the transmitted code, the light says on continuously and the programme is recorded.

Since the re-tune, some channels continue to work as expected (BBC4 and Drama), but programmes on the main channels (BBC1, BBC2, ITV, C4, etc) are not recorded, and the light continues to flash until the end-time of the programme. Just for the record I have full strength signals here.

The problem is identical on two separate set-top boxes. Both have the latest software updates installed. I have carried out full re-sets on both, including re-tunes and back to factory re-sets.

It is my belief that the magic code which notifies the start of the programme is missing for a number of channels on the Midhurst Freeview transmitter. I have contacted the Freeview helpline, but they have no other advice than to contact the set-top box manufacturer. I don't think they really understand the issue.

I cannot find a contact number for the Midhurst transmitter site, but I'm sure you can. It should, I assume in my ignorance, be easy for them to ascertain that the correct coded signals are, in fact, being transmitted. If it transpires that they are, then my search for answers will continue ...

Les Allwood: Hi Les, I have the same problem and my guess is that you have a Panasonic recorder.
Panasonic are aware and I was advised to wait for the "signal to stabilise".

Other people have also been affected on the Midhurst transmitter and also some on different transmitters.

On other fora I've seen posts reporting that it can take many weeks to get fixed.

I'm not sure my patience will last that long!

Regards Peter.

Peter & Les
I'm in Reigate and have a dual aerial setup from Midhurst and Crystal Palace,
i also have two Panasonic recorders and both have the recording issue on the HD channels from Midhurst,
i find that manual recording doesn't work either,so lord knows what's going on lol
Thankfully the recordings from Crystal Palace are all working without issue,so to my mind it's a Midhurst problem.
Mind you, Crystal Palace has it's issues as my group A aerial won't pick up all the available muxes now,
and apparently as i have Freesat i don't qualify for a free aerial upgrade.
Not a happy bunny, good luck with your problems.

Michael:
Hi Michael,
We are now almost a month after the Midhurst frequency changes that triggered this issue and its still not clear who is accountable for fixing this. In my case it has rendered a 400 device useless for recording HD - which was why I bought it in the first place!

Panasonic are not being helpful - they know about the issue but won't say what is the fundamental cause or how it can be worked round. There may be some kind of limit to what can be done with the recorder hardware or with the machine's firmware or Panasonic may have lost the capability to update the firmware.

In any case they aren't prepared to do anything to fix the machine and I suspect are replying on Freeview data providers or distributors to work round the issue, which seems to be taking time. It's deeply disappointing that no-one will publicly take ownership and provide a fix timeline.

Regards, Peter - Frustrated of Horsham!

I too have the problem that I cannot record from the PSB3 (BBCB) mux from Midhurst on my Panasonic PVR since the 21 March retune. That affects all the main HD channels and Film4+1.

That is despite many cycles of clearing the channel tuning information and manually tuning. Fuller details of what I did are on the DS forums.

Fortunately my reception from Heathfield is just adequate to get PSB3. My other 5 muxes are still Midhurst. There are occasional dropouts. It would be good if Panasonic and the broadcasters sort this out.

I notice on DigitalUK's website (using detailed view) for the Midhurst transmitter tomorrow (18th April) there is a reception change being done which won't require a retune (if you haven't got missing channels) as none of the frequencies are being changed but there are minor changes being done to the output for channel 29 (SDN Mux). Not sure if in my case this will help for me (unlikely) but I will check tomorrow.

Charles:

Hi Charles,

I've just done a complete channel clear out and re-tune on my Panasonic but still have the issue. I also had a look on the DigitalUK site but couldn't see any events scheduled for 18th April at Midhurst although there were events at other transmitters that were due to come into effect today.

Regards, Peter
