It is a geat pity that Freesports is not available from Sudbury, as I am retired and live on a pension, so I cannot afford to pay to watch sport.

Rex Watson: Have you looked at getting Freesat? A one-off cost for the dish + box and installation (or reuse an existing dish & cabling if the property has previously had Sky at some point in the last 20 years).

Is it atmospherics causing out of area signals interfering with CH37 ArqB multiplex from Sudbury? The signal strength reported is low and has been for several days and quality can drop to 0% is currently 2% with FEC allowing the multiplex to be watchable but when it drops to 1% and below it errors out with loads of error blocks breaking up the video and audio. All other multiplexes are behaving normally in high 90's to 100% quality.
Using a wideband log-periodic outdoors aerial and 8 way distribution amp with 10dB gain per output and 4G filtered and low loss double screened co-axial cable.

I know nothing about the technicalities of aerials etc but what I do know is that for the past 10 days, living in Ipswich with a very basic aerial set up towards Sudbury, I haven't been able to get any of the ITV channels until mid to late evening. Normally there are very rarely any problems getting the "main" channels, and as many of the Freeview ones worth giving house room.

H Green:

Really we need a full post code so we can see what the expected receptions conditions are like at your location.

Please would you check that all your aerial cables are in good condition. Then unplug all the coaxial plug/sockets and refit them. Then perform a retune with the aerial unplugged and the plug it back in and do anoy=ther retune. Then check what channels you can get.

There is also some suggestion, unconfirmed, that atmospherics are have some effect on the signals from Sudbury. If that is the case then there is no cure as it is a perfect natural phenomenon.

Hi Mike.
Tried that but to no avail. My postcode is IP1.
There are certain atmospherics during the year that do affect my signal on occasion but never normally the ITV channels - only some of the freeview ones.

H Green:

IP1 is not a full post code so doesn't help at all. The Digital UK Coverage checker needs the FULL post code, both parts, befiore you can get any information from it. That''s why I asked for a full post code.

Hi again.
I entered my postcode into the checker to find that there is no current abnormality from the transmitter on any of the usual channels so I conclude my current problem is atmospheric coupled with my somewhat lacking aerial set up.
Many thanks for your help in this matter.

As a foot note: now all of a sudden yesterday (even before I had done yet another retune) my ITV, Ch4 and Ch5 channels are back again all day long as opposed to only being available in the late evening - that would seem to correspond with this current time of change of some of the Freeview channel numbers.
