We are getting intermittent interference on 3 TVs in our house early morning and evening time ,we receive our signal through a digital Ariel on the roof which has been checked and no fault found ,it has a booster which is fine also , the TVs has built in digital channels ,we have retuned but the picture pixelates and we lose pictures and signals and all channels on all TVs . Our postcode is NR66LZ we live on Cromer road. Our catch up TVs is fine ,as are Netflix etc . Can you give us any advice.

Teresa Marshall:

The Digital UK Coverage Checker, at Coverage Checker - Detailed View shows that you are only 18 km from the Tacolnston transmitter and that you should have excellent reception. At that distance it is unlikely that you actually need an aerial amplifier so you may have too much signal. Your first step should be to check all the aerial cables and connections, unplugging all the coaxial plugs/sockets and refitting them. Then you should check that you are tuned to the correct channels, shown on the linked page above, and look at the received signal strength. It needs to be between 60% and 85%, any lower or higher will cause the pixilation your are experiencing. If the signa strength is higher than 85% then remove the amplifier and check again.

Incidentally, there is no such thing as a 'digital' aerial, all aerials designed for UHF TV reception are suitable for both analogue and digital reception, the nature of the modulation does not affect the reception in any way.

The other factor to check is whether the problem occurs at a set time of day, in which case it could well be some device operating on a clock/timer system. Also check whether there are any taxi operators nearby, their communications are often the source of interference.

Teresa .you Don't need a booster . But you do need a good splitter to drive 3 tvs from one aerial. Or is this what you're calling a 'booster' ?

TV went down about 22.20 last night (Mon 13 May) with message No signal. Please check your antennae connection. This morning my YouView service' still not working, showing same message, but now apparently (only) offering weird range of just seven new channels eg Pop Max, That's TV, Tiny Pop, Movies for Men etc

Can you help please?

I live in Cromer, North Norfolk, and have a Sony Bravia 55 set, about two years old

Thank you

John Morgan ....pop max is on a relatively weak channel so I think your aerial system is probably ok. I would try a full retune .

On your list for Tacolneston transmitter you show Ch36 as being in use, I think it is actually Ch 46.

Carl:

The owner of this site has not yet been able to update all the lsitings for the over 1100 transmitters. For the latest channel allocations, look at the Digital UK Coverage Checker (at http://www.digitaluk.co.u…r/), put in your full post code and house number, select the Detailed View option and press Go. Scroll down the resulting listings to find the transmitter you are using. That will show the current channel usage as well as any future planned changes.
