BTW I'm not in Chippenham :) That's appeared because I was doing a signal check on your area and forgot to remove it before posting!

Where can I find the frequencies for my transmitter so that I can do a manual retune? Thanks

Mendip uses the following channels C32, C34, C35, C36, C48, C33, C36, C55, C56, C30
That's is the order PSBs1-3, COMs 4-8, Local mux. You may not receive the Local mux at your location.
Please note that at short notice COM8 is closing on June 22nd some channels are moving to COM7 and other multiplexes, some channels are closing.
See 22 Jun 2020 - Important channel broadcast changes | Freeview
For the channels on each mux see Channel listings | Freeview although there was some minor changes on 2nd June and the list hasn't been updated!
If you want the Frequency of each UHF channel, hover over each of the channel numbers above in this post.

I've just installed a new Sony Bravia tv and have intermittent HD channels on C35 and C48 groups, C35 was fine last night, weak this morning and now my TV has removed the channels again. Is this being affected by the work being done? This is my first Freeview HD television after replacing a 13 year old so frustrating it's not working as expected straight out of the box.

Neil:

There's no reported transmitter issues or maintenance at present, but there has been some variable "Tropospheric Ducting"around recently and it's likely to be so over the next few days (see https://www.bbc.co.uk/rec…iew) which may have been the cause of the issues, it doesn't necessarily affect all frequencies the same at the same time.

You say "my TV has removed the channels again". Is this because it found no signal and automatically did a retune, or did you instigate a retune? If it was automatically, I suggest you turn off this functionality as you may find channels disappear unexpectedly if there is any signal issues.
Retuning when there is no/very weak signal will usually just clear the correct tuning, you then have to repeat retune when signals are normal.

C48 is the SDN multiplex which is SD, C35 is the BBCB HD mux the other two are COMs 7&8 C55&C56.
You can keep an eye on when a manual retune may be required from this page Service updates | Freeview
As it happens, there is a retune event tomorrow see 22 Jun 2020 - Important channel broadcast changes | Freeview programme channels are moving off COM8, HD ones that aren't closing to COM7 and some SD ones may go to COMs 5 and/or 6, no detail confirmed. Arqiva have made a commercial decision to close COM8 which will go off-air on the 30th June.

Have you previously had any signal problems with C48 SDN/COM4? It maybe that your "normal" reception may be variable. We'd need a full postcode to see what the Freeview Detailed Coverage Checker predicts for your location.

Same issue again today. Strength and quality were 99&100 last night and watched HD channels 101 to 105. This morning no 101/2 and signal 75/50 although nothing here has changed/moved.

Mendip Transmitter

Chris.SE: Thanks for the reply to my previous question.

I tried manually retuning this morning but nothing seems to have changed.
Did the Freeview changes go ahead? Any idea what time they were supposed to have started?

Thanks

Anthony:

Yes all the changes have now taken place. they never say when they are going to do it, it's generally in the morning with these sorts of changes unlike transmitter frequency changes which usually happen overnight.
To ensure everything ends up in the correct place, the best way to do this retune is to unplug the aerial and do a full automatic retune which should clear all the previous tuning. Plug the aerial back in an do a manual tune for all the Mendip UHF channels EXCEPT C56. HTH.
