Lawrence: It's probable that you now have too much signal. Try turning down the booster, or replacing it with a passive, unamplified splitter.

We have retuned my mother's digital TV today (we have been on holiday and she is 90 years old). There is no reception on BBC1 and BBC2. All other Freeview channels appear to be ok.

Her Postcode is DN41 8HL

Barbara Allen, sorry, you can't get BBC1 and BBC2 on digital but since the Belmont transmitter had its first switchover. The BBC multiplex on channel 22, is now higher power, 150 kW. I live in West Yorkshire nearly 62 miles away from the Belmont transmitter and I can receive the high power BBC channels. Okay. So unless there is something else different at your mothers end?
Try a factory reset. The Belmont transmitter is not my local transmitter. It is Emley Moor. There is a possibility. If you have not done what I suggest that the BBC digital on 22 is in the 800s. Next Wednesday 17th August is the second digital switchover, try the factory reset (rescanning) again. My location is a small village called Bramham near Wetherby West Yorkshire. I hope I have been of some help, if not maybe somebody else will give you an better explanation.

Thanks for the reply Mike, much appreciated! I had read something similar posted elsewhere but it seems rediculous that a too strong signal results in poor tv performance. The problem is that the signal booster is needed to boost the signal to a tv in a bedroom a long way away at the back of the house. Without it this tv reads no signal. Still I'm going to have to try it because it's driving me nuts only getting some channels.
Could anyone recommend a decent 4 way splitter preferably shielded? all the ones I've found seem to have satellite f connectors and I have normal co axial plugs. Can I mix them on the same wire ie co ax one end and f connector on the other? Any help or advice gratefully received!

Does anyone know why today 12/08/11, I've lost all digital channels, apart from BBC1 BBC2, 7, 9, then it goes to channel 70??? Apparently there is nothing going on at Belmont? Had all channels recently.

Having had drop out problems when Belmont signals were on low power I now see that replies are being made about too strong a signal possibly being the problem even though BBC1 is the only channel on full power at the moment. It seems that poor design isn't being allowed in to the equation. Firstly you blame any piece of electrical equipment that you can think of as being the cause of interference. If that fails blame the signal level. Digital is showing its failings, but it seems nobody wants to admit that. I now have audio drop out with in or out of sync video. Bring back analogue all is forgiven

Annoyed viewer: Digital Terrestrial TV reception is, and always will be, far more critical than analogue reception ever has been, however the problems you have been experiencing should in theory be rectified come the 17th of the month.

However, that is with the exception of Mux's ArqA & ArqB, as they will be operating on only 4Kw until final switchover on 23rd of November, this being something that is bound to cause problems for many who cant really boost the signal to receive them without the danger of the 150Kw high power Mux channels overloading the tuners in their TV's / boxes, this having the same effect as a signal that is too weak, that being a blank screen!

I can watch every single channel except all from the BBC since the switch over. I had re-scanned the box numerous times and still no luck. I tried on2 different boxes (BT Vision & Sagem) and same story. I had checked cables, everything.
