Not sure if anyone is manning this forum any more..We have terrestrial Freeview via the Belmont transmitter and a rooftop aerial. All other TVs in the house get the full complement of Channels. One of the TVs (not the oldest in the house) has been out of use for a while (surplus to requirements, nothing wrong with it) and when I came to use it again yesterday a lot of the Freeview channels weren't there any more. I assumed because it hadn't been used for a while I needed to check for new channels but I suspect by doing an automatic retune I probably made an error. A lot of my 'old' channels have disappeared but only from this particular TV. It's things like Dave, Sky News etc which I think are on the same Multiplex. Also, lots of others have gone such as channel 81 (Talking Pictures TV which I like to watch a lot). I just have Carriers 1, 2 and 3 showing, if that makes any sense to any of you experts. How can I get all my channels back please?

I understand I can do a factory reset which might enable me to start all over again but can't find a way to do it. All the online advice I've followed still doesn't allow the First Time Installation or whetever it's called option to appear on my screen. I'm getting desperate and would appreciate any help.

Jay:

The best way is to unplug the aerial from the back of the TV and then do a full retune. Then plug the aerial; back in and do a retune again. The first time clears all the 'old' tuning data, the second time lets it find all the current tuning data which will have probably changed since thge set was last used, hence the lack of channels.

MikeP:

Thanks very much, Mike.

I did as you suggested although I'd already tried that method before. It didn't work! I am a female OAP, not very techie, and am finding this TV hassle a real trial.

My set is a Toshiba Freeview TV, I don't have a box or dish. There is nothing wrong with the aerial or connection, I've connected a different TV temporarily to that aerial socket and I get the full range of channels from it.

On the TV in question I appear to have Multiplexes 1, 2, 3 and 4 but NOT 5 and 6 which include Dave, Sky News, Talking Pictures TV and Yesterday (all channels I tend to watch a lot and miss now I can't receive them).

Can you suggest anything else that might fix the problem please?

My mother had the same issue with her TV so I lent her a small portable freeview TV which worked perfect. It turned out that she had a faulty tuner on her tv

That illustrates just how difficult it is to remotely diagnose reception problems. I'd suggest asking a competant TV engineer to look at your system.

Yes roger it has. If you put your postcode into Digital UK - Coverage checker it will tell you the predicted coverage of all multiplexes at your location.
