Anyone else having problems with the sound on 4HD? Watching a film and lost the main sound, just left with the ambient sound. Checked the setting on the tv but can't get the sound back. Any ideas?

Adrian Tobin: Well the obvious question would be if its only doing this on Ch4 HD? and is the sound OK on the other BBC / ITV HD channels? as if it is its inclined to indicate that the problem might be outwith your control by being a transmission fault.

If by any chance it is occurring on the other channels mentioned, or even just continuing on Ch4 HD beyond the programme that you are presently viewing, then try switching the set completely off at the mains for about 15 seconds or so before powering it back up again.

Adrian Tobin: This type of problem can happen when you have some form of Dolby system enabled on your set/receiver/hifi but do not the required extra speakers (in particular the dialogue) one.

If you can see a "Dolby" option, turn it off.

My ariel is roof mounted and receiving signals from Blackhill. I have been using a Top up TV card to watch ESPN via a CAM card for 12 months with no problem. About 2 weeks ago I lost my HD signals and eventually tracked it down to the CAM When inserted to receive Espn no HD channels, when removed all HD channels. Called Topup TV who said it was a known problem which they could not offer a solution except to insert and remove CAM as required.

Is this caused by Blackhill transmitting both on same frequency or somehow conflicting?

Any help would be appriciated.

Ross: No, ESPN is on Multiplex SDN C41+ (634.2MHz) 64QAM 8k 2/3 24Mb/s DVB-T MPEG2 and Freeview HD is on BBCB C40 (626.0MHz) 256QAM 32k 2/3 40Mb/s DVB-T2 MPEG4.

If TUTV say it is a "known problem" then they should be able to fix it, otherwise they are not taking "due care" with your viewing experiences.

I contacted TUTV again and they have been instructed not to admitt that the problem lies with them and they are unable to solve it.

First they said it was a software/firmware issue with TV. When I explained it had been ok for a year and the same version of software was in TV since new as I had taken a note of it when I first switched it on, they then said it was due to a stronger signal from Blackhill since the digital switch over.

In the end they offered me a TUTV box to use my card with instead of the CAM.

The two options I now are left with are:

Insert and remove Cam to watch TUTV or HD as required. or

Connect TUPV box, use the tuner in that to watch TUTV and then switch to the tuner in my TV to watch HD channels.

None of the two are ideal.
