All channels except ITV 3 good quality and reception. Can you explain why this one channel is so poor. Picture all noise and very poor quality. I have a Panasonic Viera Plasma TV

Ian Ireland: You should carry out a signal strength / quality check on mux Ch42 (ITV3) (this called "signal condition" on most Panasonics) noting whats indicated and then do likewise on mux Ch45 (Pick TV etc) then comparing the two readings, and although you have not mentioned any time factor being involved I was wondering if the problem has just started recently? or has ITV3 always been inferior, because if it has then moving the aerial a fraction to the left or right sometimes clears that type of deficiency even although you are relatively close to the Craigkelly transmitter.

I'm on the Craigkelly transmitter and for no reason my HD channels are not getting a signal as of about a month or so ago? Is anyone aware of any work going on that could affect things?
I've tried 4G filters so know its not that.

Just the HD channels is strange, nothing wrong with any other channels? Do you get the full range of Freeview channels (40+)? Have you got more than 1 TV? What happens when you try manual tuning on UHF ch 21?

Hi Michael,
Thanks for the response. It's only happened recently. I'm based out in Midlothian and am in a dip so have to use a booster but I did get them before. I don't get anything from a manual tuning I'm afraid (no channels from Black Hill or Penecuik) and I've also tried a 4G filter to no avail. Completely puzzled. The HD channels were fine until a month or so ago then just disappeared.
To be honest the signals from one of two of the other multiplexes are a bit patchy as well now.
Still wonder if somehow 4G is to blame in spite of the filters not helping

Reading these pages shows that some people seem to think that 4G in the 800 MHz band is already running, AFAIK it is yet to start! Though, to be strictly accurate, there are some small scale experiments being performed in a few areas occasionally. The current EE (Orange) 4G is in the 1800 MHz band so cannot directly affect DTTV (Freeview) which operates below 800 MHz. When 4G in the 800+ MHz band does start it is expected that very few viewers will be affected by interference and a few may benefit from a filter. But most people will not need a 4G filter and it could cause more problems than running without - especially as the 800+ MHz services are yet to start commercially. Those most affected could be in areas where Freeview uses the higher frequencies in the 700+ MHz range, few (if any) below that are expected to be affected and will not need a filter.
There also seems to be a confusion between Channel Numbers and Programme Numbers. Channel numbers were allocated by International Convention as an easier way to describe the frequencies used for transmission of sound and vision+colour. The Programme number is entirely at the users' discretion but broadcasters like Freeview and Sky like to predetermine the number used by viewers to display their wanted programmes. So normally BBC1 is on programme 101 (on Freeview and Sky) despite the fact it is actually transmitted on a number of different channels. Further, each channel on Freeview and Sky contains programme information for more than one programme service. So they should not be confused as they are different meanings and usages.

I have been experiencing pixelation on BBC 1, 2, 3 & 4 on one TV in the house and on another TV I have been getting a message of low signal power for the last week. My father has also lost STV, Channel 4 & Channel 5. We both live in the Midlothian area and receive our signal from Craigkelly is there any reason for this like work being done on the transmitter etc?
