Hi, I have a medium to high gain aerial to install. I live in gravesend, kent.

Which is the better transmitter to aim for for full freeview reception - Crystal palace or Bluebell hill?

We live in a signal blackspot for gravesend transmitter on analogue!

Glen R: Well on trying two test post codes for Gravesend, both Post offices not too far apart, revealed quite different results in the reception possibilities, neither presently being Crystal Palace or Bluebell Hill, with the former being variable (or poor ITV1) until the 18th April 2012, and the latter likewise until 27th June 2012 with the exception of MuxC/ArqA (Ch42) and MuxB (Ch45)

The only stations shown as being presently possible to receive being Sudbury / Rouncefall, but on a Freeview "light" basis, as Sudburys other Mux channels are indicated as not receivable.

Only the post code of your intended destination would give any reasonable level of accuracy as what to expect, but predictors do have elements of inaccuracy as they cannot fully compensate for local conditions, so this always has to be kept in mind.

Have to say though, it doesnt look that promising without careful aerial positioning being the order of the day!

Up until 2 days ago I was receiving HD via the Crystal Palace transmitter. It has since stopped. I have retuned and now the HD channels do not appear at all. Has anything changed from this transmitter to cause me to loose the HD channels. I realise I am on the edge of the area for Crystal Palace but I get maximum strength reception on all the normal channels. My post code is RG21 3HQ. I have a good aerial on a high mast.

I live in Sevenoaks and Freeview SD signal from Crystal Palace is rather weak at present so I cannot use it reliably.
After digital change over (April 2012) will the signal for Freeview HD be increased significantly?
Thanks
Warren Taylor

Hello there we're experiencing break-up of the BBC1 & BBC2 TV signals on a fairly new Sony KDL-19S5700 TV. The aerial is in the loft and this is the same age as the TV, about two years old. The TV was tuned to pick up the Crystal Palace transmitter as we prefer BBC London news, however when we auto retuned it's picking up Anglia news on BBC1, this is shown as Channel 576 on 25Hz and for BBC2 there is no transmission being received.
Can you tell me which transmission channel numbers we should be tuning into to receive Freeview BBC London 1&2 transmissions?
Thank you very much, Richard George, Berkhamsted

Richard George: See the middle line at the top of the page. BBC One, Two and Three are on Multiplex 1, on C25, 505 833 kHz - you can probably enter 506 000 kHz/506 MHz as the box should automatically detect the -167 kHz offset.

Warren Taylor: All digital TV signals will be greatly increased after switchover. That's the point of doing it. They will also mostly be on clearer channels, fewer clashes with other transmitters.
