Kevin Farley: You havn't given a postcode, so we have no idea how good your reception is supposed to be. You need to tell us what transmitter your actually tuned to, what the signal strength is, and when the problem occurs. It could well be that your in a marginal spot, but you've got a problem with your system, which means its gone completely.

You can go satellite if you like, but you will still have to pay your licence fee - which of course has no bearing on your quality of signal.

Oxted Post Office has a code of RH8 9EH. Some of Oxted is served from Heathfield but there are huge areas not served by this.

Kevin Farley, if you can give us a more accurate post code, someone contributing to this website may be able to work out which transmitter(s) is most suited to your exact location.

Kevin Farley : Although as MikeP has mentioned, a post code is really required in the interests of accuracy, however according to DUK's reception predictor the post code of RH8 9EH is best served by Crystal palace (@ 12miles) and with Reigate (@ 9 miles) being second best, Heathfield (@ 22 miles) not being receivable except for D&4 and SDN, although both are indicated with a status of poor.

It should also be pointed out, that only Crystal Palace and Reigate's PSB multiplexes are indicated with the status of good, all COM's from both stations having the status of variable.

Lately my Panasonic TV has been putting up the info banner from time to time in the evening. Is this a transmission, TV or remote handset fault?

Hi

It's worth noting that much of West Sussex also relies on this transmitter and I think the number of households that it covers is a vast underestimation (Hayward's Heath and one or two E.Sussex towns have more households alone!).

Crystal Palace is not an option as it doesn't get anywhere near Sussex.

I've also noticed on ours and other peoples TV the SD channels that are on the newer MUX 7 in HD are very low quality even by SD standards, as if the resolution or bit rate of the signal is very low.

So we're looking at parts of Kent, East Sussex and parts of West Sussex that will never get the new MUX 7 & 8? We must make up most of that 30% that can not get the newer extended HD channels.

This is on top of being made a group D transmitter at the start of digital switch over, one year later having to fit filters when 4G was launched and then moved to group B transmitter a year or so later!

Saying "use freesat" is not really helpful as many people have signed up for Freeview type subs via BT/TalkTalk etc and having two box's is frankly silly.

All major transmitters should broadcast all MUX (I can see how some relay stations may not be able to do so)!
