B. Carr: Just to answer your the main concern which I had mistakenly omitted to include in my answer, no! they havent been switched off and wont be until changeover, however they can suffer periods of breaks in transmission due to the on-going engineering work in preparation for switchover, this most likely being the cause of your problem.

Doing a full rescan/first installation on my PVR (Topfield 5800) will delete all my recordings (this aspect not mentioned on any site I've looked at!). Please confirm if just a channel rescan will not be sufficient.

Dennis: Carrying out the normal "Factory Reset" to wipe out everything stored in the memory will NOT delete your previously made recordings but WILL if "Format Hard Disc" is selected.
Have a look on the link, the section on the info you require about 3/4 of the way down the page.

I have to re-tune/scan my TV on a daily basis as always lose ITV1,Ch4,Ch5 as well as various other channels. It takes about 15 minutes to do this and means that I can no longer pre-programme my DVD recorder as this wipes out anything already pre-set. My TV is analogue and I run it via a combined DVD/digibox recorder. After I re-scan it all works until I turn it off and then have to repeat the process again the following day. Is this related to technical work being carried out or is it always going to be like this now?

Susan Ellis: If you lose channels after switching off a DVD recorder or any Freeview device, then this in most cases is caused by the device having picked up more channels than its memory is capable of storing, hence they are lost on switch off.
You will have to carry out a complete factory reset (or default setting) on the recorder to delete anything stored in the memory and follow this by another auto-scan, sometimes depending on the make of the device, if you take the aerial out and start an auto-tune but stop it as soon as it starts that can delete everything stored, so you could try that first if you wish, then of course reconnect the aerial and carry out a normal auto-tune.

My mother-in-law id 98 and has just moved to Manor Gardens Nursing Home - TN22 4BY her TV can only recieve 7 TV services - this excludes all ITV channels. The signal strength is only 15%. I believe the home has a SMATV entenna, we are advised that other residents can receive ITV without a problem. The TV is a 5 years old Samsung

Lewes
We are suffering from major picture breakup on BBC1 as I write. Our postcode is BN7 3BH. Yesterday, Monday the 4th of June, our BBC1 reception was perfect or normal. However, on Sunday, when we neeeded a good picture, the reception on BBC1 Digital was so appalling that we were forced to watch the river pageant on BBC1 Analogue. It was not until we met neighbours on Monday that we realised that it was not just us that had a problem but that it was widespread. So thankyou Heathfield for spoiling this once in a lifetime weekend by transmitting a weak signal.

Your postcode comes up as Plumpton Green, which is about the same distance from Heathfield as Lewes Town. The low lying parts of Lewes cannot receive the full coverage from Heathfield, but if you have been receiving Freeview up to the changeover, apart from a full retune or factory reset of your TV or external box, you should not see any difference. I had and still have an excellent signal using a small log periodic aerial mounted under the eaves. If you still have problems after a reset, you need to check all the items up to the box.
