Retune, retune, retune, the order of the day for digital, maybe I'm getting old, but I liked being a TV engineer back in the analogue days, four channels that stayed where you put them (most of the time!), now days I seem to be retuning sets and digiboxs every other week!

Hi . I cannot access group ch 33 nor 41 [ BBc HD ch 4, news, etc]. No signal at all. My postcode is TA13 5EN
and the Mendip mast is fully visible from our house [even downstairs!]. I have 100% on all other channel groups. All connections seem OK. Do I need a retune? Any ideas? Many thanks.

Charles Jeffrey: If you can see the mast and have 100% signal strength then your TV's tuner is most likely being overloaded with too much signal, the same way you would be deafened if you stood too close to a loudspeaker. Search for the article "Too much of a good thing" on here for more info. Do not attempt to retune, this will not fix it.

Has something happened to CGTN? It's just showing a colour spectrum and the time. All other connected channels eg catch up, Vision, RT, Planet Knowledge are working.

CCTV Freeview channel 260 is a streamed channel (Internet, and so not dependant on the Transmitter) and is indeed showing the Colour Bars. I don't know how long this has been so as I look at those channels very infrequently. For example, Connect 4 on channel 262 (also streamed) has been showing the Test Card for some considerable time IIRC.
In all these cases you'd need to contact the service provider (CGTV for CCTV) to find out why this English service is not currently available. A quick search has not provided any readily available information.

Sylvia: There are no reported faults with Mendip, so start by checking for loose cables or connections behind your TV. Do not attempt to retune as this will not fix a loss of signal and will just make the problem worse.

All ITV channels are having signal loss issues in Frome Somerset (BA11). All other channels seem ok so far but havent checked everything.

Anthony: Check you cables and connections - losing a mux is a classic example of dogdy connections, etc. Swapping out the aerial lead is a cheap way of at least eliminating a possible problem - cheap and easy.

Anthony:
I live in Trowbridge and can confirm there are no such signal propblems with the transmitter. So I advise you follow MikeB's advice and check all your signal cables and connections.
You could also check that you are tuned to the correct transmitter signals.
