quinto: Assuming that your aerial is directed at Crystal Palace (south east), try manually tuning to Ch31.

The HD multiplex from Crystal Palace is not on the same power as the other digital services and therefore doesn't have as a wide a coverage area. In particular, Sandy Heath also uses the same frequency for one of its services, so you could be suffering from interference from it to boot.

Margaret: It has actually been published that there is liable to be interruptions to Reigates Freeview service over the coming week in connection to work being carried out in preparation for switchover taking place between 4th / 18th of April.

Since earlier this week we have had no reception from Mux 1 (BBC1 and BBC2). Has the power been reduce or some other change that would have caused this.

Chris: There are no changes shown for Mux1, however early on Wednesday morning (7th March 2012) the power of Mux2 and MuxA was increased to 2kW and MuxB to 1kW. This was to counteract possible interference from the new vertically polarised digital transmissions being introduced on the same frequencies at Rowridge for DSO. It is possible that your receiver is now overlooking the weaker signal on Mux1 in the face of these nearby stronger signals.

Hi KMJ,

That sounds plausible.

Do you have any recommendations as to how to resolve the issue though? I have also been unable to receive MUX1 in Reigate for the last few days...

Reigate

I've lost many of my freeview TV channels, but predominantly the BBC ones. The other ones that I do still have are saying bad signal....I'm in central Reigate. I haven't been around the last few days but I have noticed my freeview box hasn't been recording programmes for the last 4 days, presumably because the signal was so bad. I've tried re-tuning but that just resulted in more channels being lost. And I've tried changing the aerial cable.

KJM - Thanks for that info that you provided. I've now fixed (improved) the issue. I have a masthead amplifier and in order to get the Mux1 channels (BBC1, BBC2, etc.) back, I had to turn down the power on the amplifier (luckily it's a variable amplifier). I turned it down as much as possible and it's much improved. I actually think that I need to remove the amplifier completely to get the best signal. I've noticed some other people on here also experiencing loss of channels in the Reigate / Redhill area so maybe they have the same issue and need to reduce the strength of the signal they are receiving.
