I went to visit my aunt near Arundel. I took my MacBook and Eye TV. I found that I could receive all the multiplexes but there was something very odd. When I wanted to listen to the radio (Absolute Radio and Radio 4) I had to put the aerial in one part of the room but when I wanted to watch TV (BBC News Channel, BBC2, BBC Parliament and Sky News) I had to put it in another location. To watch ITV, Channel 4 or Channel 5 I had to put it in a third location, where other TV channels were corrupted.
What was going on? (52.3992,-0.7201)

Charles Stuart: This is not unusual. Reception on an indoor aerial is often hit and miss,with each mux having the best signal in a differing location. Notice how an FM radio might receive different stations in different locations in the room. It is not always realised that in some locations even outdoor aerials have to be positioned in a compromise location to receive all the available muxes!

Anyone else having problems with MUX1 (BBC1) in Chichester?
Have done a full default data on freeview box (Humax PVR) and after a couple of days BBC1 and BBC2 are not working.
I wondered if the box is picking up a different channel for MUX1 and not C34 from Rowbridge?

Matt: The prediction for Mux 1 at your postcode is variable - only 4% of locations within your grid square are predicted to get reliable reception. This may be because the Heathfield transmitter uses C34 for Mux 1, although that is fairly low power. Crystal Palace also uses C34 for Mux C, at the same power level as Rowridge.
It's shown as 'variable' rather than 'poor' as there's a very good chance of getting reception 50% of the time. It will depend on weather conditions whether it works at any given time.
Switchover at Rowridge starts on 7 March 2012. Until then, there really isn't anything much you can do. A slight adjustment in the aerial's position, moving it slightly clockwise or anti-clockwise, might change the level of interference. It might have been aimed a bit north of Rowridge to improve reception of analogue Channel 5 from Fawley (which was turned off two years ago to facilitate Rowridge's retune, in turn to free up channels for the south west region's switchover).
The commercial multiplexes will remain on low power on their current channels from 21 March to 18 April 2012, as the final channel allocations clash with low-power services at Crystal Palace until that date. You will need to retune again on 18 April. If, after the retune, you find that the commercial multiplexes are unreliable, it may be worth re-orienting the aerial for vertical polarization.

For the last fortnight all BBC digital signals from Rowridge have been very weak, typically quality 3 or less on what appears to be a good strength signal of 9. ITV and all other channels typically have a quality of 7 on a strength of 10. Several re-tunes have not improved. I have a high gain 92 element type A roof-mounted aerial with a masthead amplifier. Post code is SO51 7LB. Please advise.
