Based in Hitchin and served by Sandy Heath; we have had intermittent reception for approx 2 weeks and the last 2 days it has got severely worse. Have found out works are going on this week at Sandy heath but how long will this last? Both freeview and terrestrial channels affected.

Karen Illsley: They never say how long the engineering work will last, as it can be affected factors such as weather conditions which are beyond the engineers control. Freeview channels are all terrestrial (they are all broadcast from a land-based transmitter tower).

Mike Rowe:

There is a bit of tropospheric propagation around at present meaning you may be getting interference from other transmitters as signals travel further. If your signals haven't returned, if you provide your postcode we can look at the predicted reception at your location.

Mike Rowe:

If you haven't moved since last year, you should have no reception problems from Sandy Heath under normal conditions. If problems persist, check all your coax connections (unplug them, check they are clean etc., plug them in again) and check your aerial is intact and hasn't moved in any wind.

margaret swannack:

see https://www.freeview.co.uk/service-updates/changes-to-sony-channels.html and also http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/channels/channel_listings If you do not live in the Manchester area and don't get the Manchester local multiplex then you won't get those channels.
