Lilian Mae: What model of TV are you referring to? and have you tried completely resetting the device? this usually accessed from the main menu, although if as aforementioned the model is given then this can be checked on.

Just a small point though, have you double checked to make sure that the TV's hasnt been accidentally switched onto analogue?

The other point being, that its necessary to have knowledge of your location (post code or one from nearby) so that the signals expected at your location can be assessed.

Hi i am not happy about the signal quality from the sutton coldfield transmitter today.
I know you have to do work on it but what a week to do this, The picture was breaking up all day long.
I am looking after my mother who is 86 years old and she was looking forward to watching the jubilee celebrations, i know work has to be done but i thought you may have given some warning about this.
yours sincerely

Sorry for taking so long to get back on here.. work and family stuff.
Have tried your wire suggestion and an internal digital aerial, and while channels on mux 2 do appear on the TV the signal is so weak I am getting either no picture or complete pixelation of sound and image.
This puts out TV receptionving back (approx) 3 yrs when they started "upgrading" the then prefectly good reception from Sutton Coldfield.
We lost mux 2 then as now.

I'm sick and tired of getting poor reception with digital TV. Never had any problems with analogue, but since we've gone digital, we've suffered regular reception problems with MUX2.

I thought the recent total lack of signal on our main living room TV was due to work being undertaken on the Sutton Coldfield transmitter (we completely lost MUX2 signal nearly all day Monday). However, it now says there is no work being carried out and no faults... but we still keep losing reception on all channels on MUX2.

While this does not seem to be such a problem with the portable TVs in our bedrooms, even those pictures tend to stop and stutter on MUX2.

Had to watch the England match on a bloody 14" screen. Very dissatisfied with digital in general and the quality of MUX2 in particular.

And how bad is it that we are never told about work being carried out. You think the very least they could do would be to inform us about it via our TVs so we don't all start suspecting our equipment, looking for faults that don't exist - or worse still buying new aerials or equipment.

Farrah Day: I looked back at your previous postings to find that you are in Nuneaton and that The Wrekin is within a few degrees of Sutton Coldfield.

Have you confirmed that BBC One is tuned to Sutton Coldfield on C43 and not The Wrekin on C26? Likewise ITV1 should be C46 and not C23. HD services are C40 and not C30.

If you find that any of these are tuned to The Wrekin, run the automatic tuning scan with the aerial unplugged for the first 30% of the scan.

Would you believe it, Dave! Though BBC was good at C43, ITV was indeed tuned to C23. Did what you said and this time it automacially tuned to C43, so hopefully things are going to be better from now on. Signal strength and quality now both 100%, whereas before the quality was constantly fluctuating between 20 - 60%.

It never occurred to me that I had somehow tuned to a weaker signal on certain channels, because of cause it's all automatic. I guess the whole of MUX2 was coming from Wrekin.

All this time and suffering and it was such a simple fix!

Thanks again, Dave.

For more than a week now HD signal levels have been unaceptable.
ranging between 58% and 64% WITH a 21dB amp
causing random break ups.

This is just ridiculous.

I'm starting to think we need to get a petition going to get the analogue service switched back on. At least it was vaguely reliable EVEN in bad weather.

Enough with the idiotic proliferation of so called "channels" with "new" series that were
broadcast 3 years ago on a different frequency.

This whole freeview service is becoming a sick joke.

As for C4 and its most "talked about" programs channel. I cant think of anything on C4 I'd want to watch in the first place much less talk about or want to watch again.

Once upon a time TV was about programs. You switched it on and watched.

Now you have to be an aerial rigger just to almost get a picture depending on whether there is an r in the month.

My MP needs to pull his finger out I'm thinking.

Suddenly unable to get digital tv on Panasonic Viera tv. Normally able to initially see digital tv before than pressing AV button and switching to HDM1 for Sky. Today not even been able to switch get AV list up. Message says 'no channel found. Please check aerial or local signal availability. Press ok to start auto setup' which I did but did not change anything. Also, lost Bbc channels on sharp tv. However have these channels on Neon tv!
