phillip: Its most inadvisable to retune any TV or box for any reason other than one officially published such as transmitter channel alterations etc, as all that action does is to wipe out the channels already stored in tuners memory.
What you have reported indicates that the signal being received was on the weak side, and if the situation still applies then any auto-tune carried out is very likely to pass by a weak signal and not capture it.
If your TV or box has a manual tune facility you could try manually tuning in each of the three commercial muxes, however I am unable to provide the channel numbers due to the fact that you have not provided a post code, or at least one from somewhere nearby, such as a post office etc.
If though its Tacolneston then the three involved are: 42 - 45 - 50

phillip: By the way I see that you are indeed in the Tacolneston coverage area. I also had a check at the R & TV transmitter fault reporting site and no faults have been reported, as yet anyway! nor according to info are any engineering works taking place.

I have recently moved my aerial to avoid trees which seems to have worked accept for my Playstation 3 Play TV box. I can not get any BBC on it. Other Freeview equipment using same aerial receives 95% signal strength for BBC & works fine. I have tried an amp' but this did not help.I don't think signal is too strong, but that has been a problem before. No manual options for PS3 Play TV. Any help please.

I have found the cause of my problem with my PS3 Play TV box. It turned out to be a faulty coaxial lead. I can't even begin to understand why it only effected BBC channels but there it is.

Hi, since May 1st when the Tacolneston Norfolk mast was retuned my freeveiw HD channels are breaking up all the HD channels on the new C50 are the same, signal strength 95 but quality is up and down around the 60% number so its to do with the quality. Freeview HD was all perfect before the retune. I tryed a variable attenuator no difference just lost all channels. I tested the quality on none HD channels it was 100% strength 97. I've done a complete retune many time's. Help please (52.6493,1.3106)

Have an HD set with built-in box and the aerial is in the loft.
Since the May re-tune we cannot watch a number of channels as they keep breaking up.
Have done two auto re-tunes but still the same problem.
Any ideas anyone?

David: If your aerial points to the Tacolneston transmitter, have you confirmed that it is indeed tuned to Tacolneston for all channels?
If it is then retuning is a waste of time. If it isn't then carrying the same automatic tuning procedure may well yield the same incorrect result. As Einstein said: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"!
Bring up the signal strength screen on the following services and observe the UHF channel that it is tuned to. The following channels are for Tacolneston:
BBC One = C55
ITV = C59
BBC One HD = C50
ITV3 = C42
Pick TV = C45
Film4 = C39

we live in east harling (tacolneston transmitter) and use bt vision, but since 1 May, when i understand some frequencies changed at tacolneston, we haven't ben able to get a proper picture on UHF channel 39, which now carries all the ARQB channels, including film 4 and sky sports 1 and 2 (prior to 1 May, all was fine). We have no vcr, games console, thus ruling out local band interference, so guess we are going to have to buy a wideband aerial to get the channels back? am i right?what is the likely cost of installation and is it guaranteed to work?
