Hi All, I Now Know How To Solve My Problem. It Is to Buy A New On Digital Box that can handle 8k. But I Love my old box And I Don't See Why I Should Change It, Just to get the extra BBC channels which I pay a licence fee to receive. I Don't under stand why they need 8k. Is it because of HD which I don't need or want at the moment? Did Briantist say that this (Glitch) would be solved at a later date? If So I'll wait to buy a new box or tv? initial problem - Waltham on digital no BBC 1 ,2 ,news ,red button 301 etc. I borrowed a box with 8k caperbility to test if the aerial needed moving it didn't. thanks Phill

Dominic,
Thanks again. I remember now, a couple of years ago I turned off "Auto service update" & "Software download" when Sony had problems with my model. At the same time there were terrible problems with the Sony recorder bought at the same time which lost most of the set timer recordings. I've turned these settings back on. Sony finally issued a patch for the problem. I have no technical knowledge and it took all of my brain power to follow the instructions.

phillip wigley: I don't recommend boxes, as I am not in a position to test them all, it would be unfair.
Other people have mentioned they rather like the Humax HD-FOX T2 - you can use your own USB hard drive or memory stick to record with it.
