Are there any plans/timescales to make real time Freeview available via the internet, I seem to remember sometime ago it was mooted.

Jihn:

Short answer, yes there are plans but I've not heard of definitive timescales for everything and at present it seems it's only likely to happen on recent Freeview Play devices, it's suggested only those that have CLM - channel list management.

Longer answer -
It will of course be only some (more recent) "smart" devices.
There's several subscription services.
A recent model of BT box has streamed channels available (no aerial needed I believe), quite a few in HD (where they are only SD on Freeview via an aerial), but that is exclusive to BT. There's also Sky Glass, but again exclusive to Sky. Sky also offer a paid App.

But also today, the BBC have released this -
New HD IP streams launching on Freeview Play models 24 July | Help receiving TV and radio

Some of the Broadcasters' Apps already offer "Live" streaming (it's actually delayed slightly - (upto a minute?) eg. iPlayer, ITVX, My5

A lot of that streaming is in HD but iPlayer is more restricted to listed sets -

Jackie Olliffe:

There are no Faults or Planned Engineering listed for the Redruth or Caradon Hill transmitters that cover your area, so I'm afraid it's down to current weather conditions -

They have been causing Tropospheric Ducting affecting much of the south coast and southern parts of the country on Saturday and now extending into the Midlands and North of the country through Sunday including East Anglia, now currently affecting Wales and England. This causes interfering signals from distant transmitters in Europe or the UK to affect reception of your wanted signals. This can periodically last, seconds, minutes and sometimes much longer - Do NOT Retune.
There is nothing you can do about this apart from wait for conditions to change, or use online streaming if available.

IF you did retune, you'd be best manually retuning the UHF channels for your transmitter, as detailed in the top section of the relevant transmitter page.

The BBC and Freeview have issued warnings -
High pressure weather conditions impacting TV & Radio services - from 07 October | Help receiving TV and radio
High pressure could affect reception across parts of the UK this week | Freeview

The "Tropo" on this occasion has been quite extreme at times and lots of people across the country have been affected. Hopefully it will improve significantly after Wednesday according to current predictions.
